Looked at a few of those options, but decided to take advantage of the off year and take the wife on a trip instead.

I am as excited as a rooster in a yard with a bunch of hens, leaving in the morning with a old Marine Corps brother, we been hunting together since we were 18 years old, not always animals. Enjoy your vacation with your wife, I only go west every other year and the off year is as you said a trip with the wife, gotta keep the peace.

I accidentally put in for the wrong unit this year and didn’t realize it till I received the tag. I had no idea what what this unit held or where to find them. I spent the week before bow hunting and only spotted about 10 goats in the whole unit. One group was coming up from a pond on BLM at daylight and I figured they would be close to there on rifle opener. I showed up and there were lots of vehicles parked on the sides of the road. I got out and snuck down about a mile to where I could see the pond and was trying to figure out how to maneuver into a place where I could see if the goats were down at the pond. Just then the herd started walking up the bank out of the pond. They were acting a little shifty and looking back to their left as if they were worried about something over there in one of the draws. I figured other hunters were working their way down to the antelope and I hd no time to loose. I ranged the buck at 550 and doped the wind at almost 10 mph. I took the shot and the herd ran down into a draw. The does came back up the other side but the buck didn’t. I walked out there and found him piled up about 15 yards from where he was hit.
