My last morning to hunt this spring, so I wasn't picky. After 2 hours of trying to locate, I finally got some lonely birds to talk. Two jakes came in on a string from 300 yards out, and I couldn't pass up the shot at 20 yards. Just happy to get another bird in the freezer.
Finally connected on our last weekend. No bird in my morning spot so I went cruising around. Saw 2 birds about a half mile from the road but couldn't tell what they were through the thermals. Walked in on them and called to get their heads up...2 hens. But then a gobbler answered so I started closing distance on him. Got to about 300 yards and the hens flew right to him, no more gobbles if you can imagine. So two hours and 3 fields of dew soaked army crawl behind a hen decoy later I finally caught up.
