Well shit...I didn't draw a gmu 35 deer tag for archery. The draw odds are 97%. What the hell...guess I'll be going to Idaho or South Dakota.

I'm pretty lost on this first year applying. Do I go through the process like I'm purchasing a license/habitat stamp and see everything there? When I log in, I'm seeing 2014 deer app 491 code, I don't see preference points listed anywhere? Where should they be, or where am I supposed to go to check them? Thanks.

No, just go to "draw results/ pref points" link from the main big game hunting page. Fill in your info on the bottom of the page (last name, birthdate & zip code), hit enter. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to "current pref points". Hopefully that makes sense...

The traditional 'Backdoor' codes have not been posted yet.
The CPW now has a feature that shows your CURRENT PREF POINTS
You can check this after the draws takes place

Fill out and

SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE TO SEE CURRENT PREF POINTS.
These will only affect your FIRST CHOICE on your application.
You wont find out your 2nd,3rd... until the traditional backdoor [pretend to buy a license] opens

Ugh...I just realized that my second choice is GMU 25 and my third choice is GMU 18. I might just turn in my tag and go OTC elk hunting...damn...this is gonna ruin my day!

I got my deer point. I put in for a point for elk. And second choice archery elk. But it doesn't show that I got an elk point. So when will it show second choice or my point?

Elk hasn't been done yet, so you won't see the elk point until next week, I think someone said the 16th

Well I see I'm down to 0 points for muley. I'm sorry to who ever I bumped out of that GMU. I had too many points for the area I put in for, but that's the hidden cost of deployments. Good luck to those who drew and my hopes for a mild winter for those who didn't draw this year.

The backdoor doesn't help me as I put in for a pref. point and hope to draw on a second or third choice but with 55% of tags going to nonres. and landowners even that is a long shot...

How'd you find out about your second choice, or are you assuming based off of past draw odds?
