I'm looking to get a new vehicle and keep my Silverado with 220k miles for towing and other truck needs 10-20 days a year. I was originally planning to get a used Rav4 for ~$15k. Saw a 2012 Chevy Colorado with 130k miles, 4wd, with a topper, looked excellent condition. For $12k.

Any reason not to buy it and try to drive it for another 100k miles buzzing around town and the mountains. Can probably use it for a hunting rig I imagine.

I'd prefer a Tacoma for reliability. I can buy a 2010 Tacoma with 180k miles for 14k. I think I'd prefer the lower mileage Colorado?

Just for reference sake, I bought a 2015 Z71 Colorado w/ 145k miles last year for 15k.

I'm no help with the price but I really liked my old Chevy Colorado. It was a slightly older vintage than what you're looking at. Maybe somewhat underpowered but it was light and maneuverable.

So, the topper on the Colorado is worthless. It means something to the seller, but is an extra to you. Has nothing to do with dependability of the powertrain.

See if the Tacoma guy will take $12K. I bought a 2008 with 130k miles on it for $17k just as a reference.
