130 TMK vs 130 ELDM

I’ve done a fairly extensive search and haven’t seen a comparison of these two yet, if there is already a thread on it feel free to delete.

looking to see which one of these everyone would choose over the other and why? I see a lot of people favoring the TMK and I’m curious why? Application would be 600 and in being fired from a 20” 6.5 cm. Priority would be the biggest wound channels from muzzle velocity out to 1800 fps. I do seem to encounter quite a few close shots.
The ELDM has a little better bc and are very readily available off the shelf. It sounds like the TMK may have better wound channels, but am curious to see people’s experiences for that.

I haven’t shot both yet but do have a box of 130 TMK to try on my next brass cycle. I’ve shot the 130 ELDM in my 260 since 2016 or 2017 at 2840 fps muzzle. No issue with shots well inside 100 yards, killed a few cow elk but mostly deer. Longest shot is probably 300 something. Nothing goes far. They have done really well for me and no reason to change. I kept seeing all the talk about TMK wound channel being a little better so I bought a box when I finally found one. Petey308 on LRH sectioned both and took a bunch of measurements and made his recommendation for velocity performance window.

TMK wasn’t around when I was working on loads originally. I picked the best of ELDM, Berger AR Hybrid and Sierra TGK. I have heard the TGK is a bit tougher if the close shots get too messy.

Considering your parameters I would look at maven and athlon.

Thanks for the reply! What length barrel and powder are you using for your current load?

It’s a factory savage advertised as 22”. Using H4350
