130 Grain Class 6.5 Creedmoor Bullets

140 + class bullets are largely considered the sweet spot for the 6.5 CM, but my 20" barrel Tikka UPR loves the 130 grain Berger OTMs. I get the same velocity with the 130s out of my 20" barrel as the 140s for a 24" barrel.

Anyone hunting with sub 140 grain 6.5mm projectiles? The 130 OTMs by Berger are tack drivers and the ogive measurements are very consistent.

127 grain Barnes LRX in 6.5x55 did great for us on two cow elk last fall. 2 elk with 2 bullets at 181 and 385 yards. Neither went more than 5 steps

124gr Hammer Hunters and 127gr LRX have been great in 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC all the way up to moose for me.

I know 130 TMKs have a good reputation. From memory I’ve read where the Berger 130 hybrids/OTMs work decent keeping the velocity up. I would like to try the 130 ELDs myself but it’s likely wasted on deer for me.

I shoot 130 ELDMs through mine. They are great. Picked up a bunch of 130 TMKs to try. Just have to load some up.

Developing a hunting round with the 130 VLD-H right now. Looking forward to shooting some critters with it. Heard good things about Berger bullets, usually shoot Nosler.

I’ve shot a bunch of game with the 130 TGK. I get 2890 out of a 24” Kreiger barreled 700 with 44 grains of H4350, Lapua brass, BR4 primer.
Works great on deer hogs antelope prairie dogs steel, etc.

The 130 gr Berger OTM has a short bearing surface and will shoot faster than some 130's. It is a short bullet made to fit in a magazine. They are very jump tolerant and easy to tune. It kills stuff, too. I shoot them out of a .260 at 2950 ish fps.

Mostly 130gr TMK, 130gr ELD-M, and 130gr Berger OTM Hybrid AR. Of those my presence is the TMK for it terminal behavior. The ELD-M is his as welll, with a bit less penetration at higher impact velocities and less upset at lower impact velocities. The Berger 130gr OTM Hybrid AR is a very good bullet, but needs to be kept at 2,050fps ‘ish or higher for reliable upset.

My pops has folded two bucks DRT with the 130gr hornady CX-in California. He has been more than impressed, “That creedmoor hits harder than my 7 mag!”
