I have my first coues deer hunt in Arizona later this month. I’ve been going back and forth about my binocular setup. I typically run 10x50s on a tripod along with a spotting scope for a closer look. I know 15s are great for coues but my question is, are they a 100% better choice than my 10x50s on a tripod? Can I get away with my 10x50s on a tripod along with my spotter or should I bite the bullet on 15s?

If 10s and a spotter are what you have, you can absolutely just use that. Rarely do you NEED to buy some piece of gear to make a hunt.

Now are 15s better than 10s for Coues hunting? 100% without a doubt.

The 10’s on a tripod will work just fine.

You will be glassing for hours and hours, every day. I hope your optics are high quality and not to cause eye strain and headaches. So if they aren’t, now would be a good time to invest in a pair of used Swarovski 15’s. You can pick them up in $1300 range.

10’s will do but a quality pair of 15’s are no doubt better. You will absolutely find more deer with a good pair of 15’s.
