10x vs 12x Binoculars – I Went Too Big

10x and a tripod is my favorite. Haven’t had a chance to try the high power stuff off a tripod yet

I went back and fourth for 3 weeks deciding which pair to stick with and sold the other. In my opinion, I seen no reason to keep the 10’s over the 12’s.
The 12’s to me had better resolution and I could see more in low light vs the 10’s due to the mag increase. The 10’s had the perception of being a tad brighter in low light due to the FOV. Yes bigger exit pupil but the 12’s easily made up for it with the extra detail/resolution. Looking at antlers or 4 point vs 5 point, the 12’s at any distance and any light conditions were better. The 12’s are better off a tripod in the long distance glazing sessions, and for me there was little difference in being able to hold them steady.

I've been going down the path of 15x56 but now considering NL Pure 12x42. Love to get more feedback!

I have used my 12x50s ELs for every single deer, elk and bear hunt for the past 7 years and I don't plan on EVER selling them. I tried my buddies NLs and felt more fish eye effect than I do with the ELs when moving my eyes around when mounted on a tripod. I will never understand why people have a hard time hand holding 12s. If you need to check something at a long distance just hold on to your hat when you pull up your binos and ive never had a problem.
