100 yard game of HORSE

I shot the drill last weekend and did not do well. I taped up the holes and tried again today. That trekking pole only shot was terrible for me (0/4 on paper), so I don't think I'll be trying that one on game this fall.

I've been having fun with these challenges. Thanks to everyone playing.

Sorry I was out last month, work and personal travel kicked my ass. Plus a little hunting mixed in.

I’m busy with hunting from now until January so hope you all have a good Fall and early Winter 👍🏻

Works for me! Would love to hear the story on how you came up with the hunters drill

I was bored at my engineering job, I needed to be there but didn't have any tasks at that moment.

I envisioned a "postal" match for positional shooting with hunting rifles, if it was successful I hoped to do a bunch of them, essentially exactly what we're doing here. I have since realized the downside of postal matches: without anything to win and without your friends to hang out with like at a real match, most people don't have the right personality to participate if they aren't performing well compared with the top guys. There's fortunately enough people with the right mindset on here to make it feasible.

I made up the targets and the course of fire. Simple scoring systems appeal to me, which is why I made it binary (hit or miss) with different sized targets to match the positions. I wanted it to be reasonably accessible, which is why the first round is untimed. I also wanted it to progress. Finally, I liked the idea that you could do it with a 20 rd box of ammo.

I posted it on 24hour. Some guys liked it and participated, but it got more discussion than anything. I was never sufficiently motivated to do a second round, and as I've said before Form has gotten more out of it than I ever did.

It’s a fun drill and I really think it has improved my shooting. Thanks!
