I'm pretty sure that the picture I posted was of a 30-06 model's magazine.
I asked the The Rifle Mags UK guy whether the 30-06 magazine would work for 9.3x62, and he responded:
Weird culture shock that Europeans have magazines that cost over a hundred bucks. I was meanwhile wondering if I...
Based on the discussions I've read, the Benelli R1 seemed to make a splash about 10-20 years ago and then interest largely evaporated. It seems to be a more popular gun for driven hunts in Europe, where I gather it's called the Argo, and where long-range accuracy is less important than rate of...
AR's are great, I won't argue otherwise. I prefer the "traditional" ergonomics, so am considering an SCR lower with a side-charging Grendel upper, or I guess the AR10 equivalent to that in a real caliber would be the Dissent.
But the BAR/ Winchester comes in 30-06, 9.3x62, or magnums, and is...
I am tempted. I would be using the gun in rainy if not muddy conditions and don't know if I trust it to survive.

If I could be reassured...
Hawaii doesn't actually have any bans on guns with barrels longer than 16". So most of the logical thought progressions for what I want end with a Ruger SFAR. But for the sake of ergonomics, travel possibilities, and other hard-to-state reasons I am exploring options before I end up there.
A...
I live in Hawaii. Axis deer, goat, and hog hunting often borders on "eradication", and conditions can vary between high altitude, dry and long-distance, to crawling around with pigs in rain, mud and steam. But never any freezing weather at least.
I've been using a stainless/ composite bolt...
I traded some messages with the RifleMags.co.uk people.
1) They tell me that semi-auto and pump-action SXR2's take the same magazines. (So the 10-round 30-06 magazine would be this one.)
2) They are happy to ship magazines to the USA. (For these prices I would be too.) They estimated a 10-14...
I'm still a little intrigued by these rifles.
It appears that Lipsey's imported a glut of them from Europe. North American Winchester isn't happy about it because they don't have any parts or knowledge of them.
So the guns are orphaned to some degree, although I understand they also share...
Have you looked through holos? They're supposed to better than standard red dots.
That's like a 9" drop at 200 with a 100 yard zero? Seems doable with a duplex.
And so here ends any sort of coherent input I could offer.
What kind of ammo do you plan to use and how far of shots do you plan to take on what sort of target?
30-30 tends to run out of steam about where it starts dropping, but there's also a big range among cartridges. LeveRolution is almost a whole different beast than the rest. So if you want to be...
I've been considering an R1 and found this comment. Can you elaborate on the "not safe to carry with a round in the chamber" bit?
Are they particularly less drop-safe for a long gun?
A 30-06 magazine would probably work with 9.3x62, right? Same dimensions apart from the bullet?
Why do the Europeans have 10 rounder magazines for the BAR that I've never seen before? Are these unobtanium in the US for some reason, or am I just ignorant?
This website has some interesting magazines for European 9.3x62 rifles that I've never heard of.
Does the Browning Maral use the same magazine as the Winchester SXR2? Perhaps, since this magazine is listed as fitting both of them.
I love how Europe has their own market of weird-looking rifles...
Their manual sure has some interesting nuggets.
Your rifle has a detachable or fixed magazine mounted on a hinged floorplate depending on the legislation in force in each country. The magazine capacity also depends on the legislation in force in each country.
Their website lists 2 round and 3...
You ever find anything out about the SXR2?
I saw a few while looking at BAR's a while ago and thought... Huh... A semiauto 9.3x62 for under $1000 sure sounds interesting.
It'd sure be nice to be able to "turn off" the muzzle brake when you're prone in dirt or the 7-year-old starts shooting next to you at the range. Or rather, "turn on" the brake when shooting groups by your lonesome. I usually spend more time not wanting one than wanting one.
But the other...
It seems to me like it'd be pretty cool to have a convertible or adjustable muzzle brake, that you could use as a brake for recoil reduction when the opportunity calls, or easily close the ports off when you don't want the extra blast.
What are the options for this? Does anybody have...
I'm pretty well standardized on 30mm scope rings but am now in the market for a lighter scope and most of them are 1" tubes.
I see a few different companies selling bushings/ inserts to put a 1" scope into a 30mm ring.
Anybody have experience with these? Are they a foolish waste of time or a...
