Look into Alberta Wilderness Guide Service out of Edmonton. Website is ihuntalberta.com. I've hunted with them and quite a few of my friends have also. Great group of people and they do a great job. The deer in my avatar is the one I shot up there.
I always do. I'm using a regular Butler Creek harness for in a tree stand. One reason is that if I need them they are right there and I can bring them up with very little movement. Only thing I hang up is my day pack and rarely dont have to go in it while in the stand.
The SG De Havilland's didn't seem much louder than the Timberlines for me. Maybe a bit baggy but not too bad. If I could have the best of both worlds it would be the Timberline fabric and fit with the SG pocket layout with hip zips. I didn't like the zippered pockets of the Timberlines and...
This past November I brought a pair of Sitka Timberlines and a pair of Stone Glacier De Havilland pants. I wore the Sitka pants the 1st day and then switched to the SG's. I ended up wearing the SG's the rest of the hunt. This was due to the SG's having the hip zips. Both pairs did fine but...
I'm 60 and make use of machines for certain types of body work. I don't do flat or incline bench anymore due to tearing a pec 10 years ago. Instead I'll use flat, incline and decline machines. I also use them for pull-downs and shoulder cable work. I do mix in dumbbell work also. The best...
When I was in the Army back in the 80's that is what we used to heat our tents in the winter. We were in the filed in Germany for 2 weeks in Feb. It didn't get above 10 degrees the whole time. Our diesel stoves kept our tent warm as can be. They are a pain to start but once they get going...
Wow, someone comes in and asks a question about something he heard and is trying to get some kind of clarification. The he gets shat upon for doing so. I guess he could have decided to run with it and spread it all over the web. It's amazing that when people inquire about something others...
I have a couple of different weights of BO merino and love them. I've worn them all through the colder months of deer season and this past November elk hunting in Montana. Temps were in the single digits to the upper 20's and I was perfectly happy with my base layers. It's awful hard to beat...
Thats it. I had a pup with Allen for almost year. His assistant ran him in the Derbies. We did fairly well and then ran the Qualifiers. That was as far as we got though Made QAA and rant to trials and that was it. He didn't have what it took to make FC or AFC so we ran Hunt tests after...
I just skimmed through this thread and there is a ton of great advice. There are also a lot of great Trainers in VA and NC that are close by. Look at Black River Retrievers in Angier NC. Allen, and right now I'm having a brain cramp and can't remember his last name, has trained multiple NFC's...
My PR was 315 for 2 reps and I was at 175lbs. Theenn 2 weeks later I tried to go for 320 and tore a Pec. That was 10 years ago. I was 50 then. I don't do flat bench anymore. However, I do dumbell bench presses instead 3x8-10 at 100lbs.
I used an EXO K4 5000 last year and loved it. Previously I had a MR Metcalf and between the 2 packs the K4 is night and day a better pack. Needless to say the Metcalf has been rehomed.
My breakfast is a large cup of coffee with 2 scoops of collagen and a scoop of chocolate whey protein. Give me 46 grams of protein and only 200 calories.
My brother has one and I compared it to my Pelican case and its the exact same case except for a couple of very small things. Basically cosmetic design items. For the money I don't see how you can beat it. I ended up getting one.
Definitely look at Seekins Havak. I use my 7PRC for everything from deer on up. Recoil isn't as bad as others put it to be. I hate recoil and the 7PRC is fine. My favorite all around ammo is Federals 170gr Terminal Ascent. It is very accurate out of my rifle and performs very well on game.
I've used my SilencerCo Omega 300 on everything from a .300WM down to my 6.5 PRC and it has worked great!. Very little POI change on my rifles and recoil is less than without it. Not quite as reduced as with a break but still manageable for all.
I have the Alpacas of Montana hat and love it!. Mine did stop the wind and it was almost too warm. I was wearing it in temps of zero to the upper 20's and if on the move I Had to take it off or my head began to sweat.
I'm from NC and at an altitude of 250ft or so. I hunted the first week of November in SW Montana anywhere from 6500 to about 9000 ft and it took a couple of days for me to get acclimated to the altitude. This was with me arriving 2 days before my hunt. At no time during the hunt was I muscle...
