what a shame that such an awesome cartridge has pretty much gone away.
the 7 prc ain't no slouch though and has at least a full page of ammo on ammoseek under $50/box before shipping and tax..
i f'd around with my rem 700 custom shop 7stw and then ended up rebarreling it but didn't like the result.
i'd keep that bad boy, 7stw is so classic, and just get or build a 7prc from components (eg tikka receiver, proof barrel, altitude stock etc).
300 wsm ammo availability and variety has definitely improved in the last couple months. but, i'm not seeing proof make carbon barrels in 300wsm any more?
are you shooting 100 first, then 200 - perhaps the barrel is warming up too much?
what is your scope magnification range, maybe it's not enough to be precise at 200? prob not, just throwing out some possible causes.
what's your range like, maybe protected out at 100 but open to more wind...
diff between the veil and roughtech stocks, and the complete rifles? the roughtech looks grippy, is the veil just a camo pattern on the black/smooth basic t3x stock? any big feature differences? thx.
both the terminal ascent and scirocco are showing on ammoseek as "relatively" inexpensive. i'm just trying to find out how accurate and deadly they are.
Hi, looking at Federal Terminal Ascent 200g and Remington Premier Swift Scirocco Bonded 180. Nice to see anything other than 150g back in stock at not totally unreasonable prices.
Anyone have any feedback on accuracy and killing ability on elk (max distance 500yds, ok maybe 600..., but most...
yeah i got one (tbac ultra 7) for 6.5 (creed and prc). it just doesn't reduce noise enough for me not to want to wear hearing protection. plus the recoil impulse is way worse than with a decent brake. i've just been wearing electronic earmuffs when i hunt. they amplify the forest noises...
i don't have comparator or the like. bought a couple boxes from battlehawk armory back in early January. will report on lot numbers when i get back home.
i'd clean the gun. maybe a little rust from sitting idle? check the crown, hoping it didn't get damaged.
i'd throw the old scope back on and make sure everything is tight, base/rings included.
yes, punishing for sure but of course you feel it at the bench but not in the woods. the hellfire brake i put on makes it very manageable.
after seeing my two elk show almost no signs of being shot with my 300wsm and 180tbt bullets, i'd be hesitant to recommend anything less. i mean, they...
