Drop Away Rest. QAD vs. HAMSKEA

I just switched from the QAD. First, I think the Hamskea is a lot more quieter. The main reason I switched was movement in the rest. I used my QAD for ten years and only had problems with it once in really cold weather freezing but I don’t know if any rests would not have had problems in that...

    Mtn Rambler

I did the guide lid and 2 large belt pouches. Then a large roll up for the tent and the bag. This has worked really well for me. The two lower straps I set it up so they connect to each other. This has removed the slop. I can post pictures when I get home.

    Kifaru Tahr and Mountain Rambler

The way it comes is three straps on each side. The top ones for the pockets I don't see a way to change. The two lower ones I take the buckles off and have one set so they meet in the middle.

    Kifaru Tahr and Mountain Rambler

I have the Rambler and hunted with it this year. The pack did bug me with the shifting. Now I have the two lower straps running all the way across and that has stopped the shifting! Just training with weights and some gear has shown me that it stays in place now. I have a camping trip in January...

    The perfect Kifaru pack...anyone agree?

I have not tried to put the bow there. Mainly I would not want to cinch down on it that much. I mostly bow hunt and put the spotting scope tripod in the scabbard.

    The perfect Kifaru pack...anyone agree?

I was in the same spot as you are but I ended up with the Mountain Rambler. Works great as a day pack. Add pod with the guide lid and now looking at 3 to 5 days. Or utilizing the meat shelf and a dry sack I could go longer. I did add a grab-it to carry my bow.

Source for legit bow reviews and tech discussion?

For me I went with the no cam. More it was the most forgiving bow I have shot. Now it is not a speed bow by any means but I can shoot it better then anything else. That is my main reason for it is more for hunting. When I am cold, tired, and no sleep chasing elk it will be more for giving with...

PICTURES: Mathews No Cam, Stokerized, Spot-Hogg, blacked out, 2015 brand new setup

I have the same bow and went with the axion 2n1 stabilizer. Small lighter and makes a great handle to carry the bow with.

    looking for a new release

I really like the Spot Hogg and have not had any issues with it. I prefer the light trigger. I don't think I could change easily and I don't have it set at the lightest setting.

    Mountain Rambler Bikini vs. Duplex

I just have the Rambler and for me it's the perfect pack. It is the first kifaru pack I have owned and I have it on a duplex frame. Why I chose the Rambler was it is a small pack that I can expand on and has a meat shelf that I can carry a lot of different things in.

Kifaru Rambler - Anyone using for long trips? If so what are your tips?

I just picked mine up today and can't wait to see how it works out for me. I did a medium pod and the grab-it for right now. I'm not sure if I want a lid on it.

Mechanical or Fixed... what are your thoughts for elk?

I use fixed only because I do not need any thing else going wrong or having to worry about it opening. Maybe on deer I would use them.
