Where do you live? The any bull units are tough but you have a great tag to hunt them with. You are probably better off picking a unit close by and getting to know it better if you can. Otherwise the Uintas are probably where I would go for that tag.
You shouldn't have any issues from a CWD standpoint. I would just make sure to document with pictures and GPS coordinates where the first buck was taken in case you get stopped and have to explain why you have a deer with a tag on it from another unit.
I use an igloo 150qt ($100-150) for ice/meat and a cheap 55qt cooler for food on most hunts. For longer hunts I dump some ice in the cooler and let it sit in the 150 cooler over night to get the cooler nice and cold. I dump the ice and fill the cooler with milk/juice jugs that a filled with...
I need that many guns in 22LR alone. . .
-One shot youth rifle for teaching kids
-Semi auto rifle for fun
-Bolt action for precision
-Semi auto hand gun for cheaper hand gun target practice
-revolver so I can pretend to be a cowboy . . .
All of these are necessary
Awesome! I just listened to the Eastman's Elevated podcast with Charles today. Howl has the potential to be one of the most positive influences on hunting legislation out there. Thank you for the time, money, and effort you personally spent on building Howl!
I was also one of the fortunate few who was given an @AKEK pack for review. I asked @Bubblehide if I could piggyback on his thread to keep the conversation in one place instead of several separate conversations and he agreed with the caveat that this thread is for initial impressions and he will...
That depends a lot on your buddy's situation and expectations.
Does he prefer DIY? How far is he from the unit? And how much time can he dedicate to scouting the unit?
Is he happy with a 300" bull or does he want something 350" or better?
I don't know a ton about the unit but it can certainly...
"How many" depends on your goal. Hunting is already unsustainable in many areas and has been for a long time. Point creep has been around since before social media. For a majority of Americans it is not realistic to only consume wild game meat unless they want a mostly vegetarian lifestyle...
No, it is. If you listen to the podcasts he always come back to crowding. He brings up valid points that are worth consideration when trying to support his argument, but it always comes back to too many hunters. And since there are too many hunters, "traditional hunters" can't hunt the way they...
This is the heart of the Matt Rinella argument. "I don't like that people shared their passion and inspired others. There were truck parked at a public land trail head! Trucks! Other hunters on public lands using tags that the state legally issued! How dare they! How dare they find out that the...
