Buddy pulled the early any weapon elk permit. Is this a DYI unit or do you guys recommend a guide and who would you recommend.
Thanks Brian

That depends a lot on your buddy's situation and expectations.

Does he prefer DIY? How far is he from the unit? And how much time can he dedicate to scouting the unit?

Is he happy with a 300" bull or does he want something 350" or better?

I don't know a ton about the unit but it can certainly be done DIY if you want to go that route. If you want one of the better bulls on the unit and won't settle for less then consider an outfitter. I don't know anyone specific that guides the LaSal unit but if you hooked up with a company like Epic Outdoors or Hunting Fool they would point you in the right direction.

I think he’s really thinking outfitter since scout would be a few day before season due to being out of Washington state.

Most of the elk will be on private quick once they get hunted in archery. If I had that tag I'd be 100% looking for an outfitter. It can be done DIY, but you'll spend a lot of time looking at elk on the wrong side of the fence. Outfitters pay for access to all of the best private and you don't stand a chance of getting permission.

Shane Scott. If you're going with an outfitter get it booked before the draw results are announced or you'll be screwed, they book up almost immediately.
