Kimber Montana vs. Tikka T3x Superlite vs. Savage 16 LWH (308)

I just sold a 116 FCSS in 300 Win Mag. I love the gun, I just don't need a 300 WM for what/how/where I hunt. They're not in the same weight class as the other rifles mentioned in this thread. But they are on the lighter end of standard weight rifles. The action on mine is smooth. Don't remember...

Kimber Montana vs. Tikka T3x Superlite vs. Savage 16 LWH (308)

I don't think there's a major downside to a SA cartridge in a LA receiver. It's just like Luke said, there's no gain. If I'm gonna have the length of a LA it'll be chambered in a long action cartridge for me.

What are your core values that reflect your particular hunting style?

I think my biggest core value is following the rules. I see so many guys near where I live that don't and you can't prove it and nothing ever gets done about it. As far as meat and quality of animals, I'm a meat hunter first, but I can shoot plenty of does for meat, so I try to hold out for...

Kimber Montana vs. Tikka T3x Superlite vs. Savage 16 LWH (308)

I've been looking at these also for pretty much the same purpose as you. I'm leaning toward the Savage LWH. I have a 116 that's been a great rifle so I'm already a Savage fan anyway. But you always hear great things about Tikkas. The whole short action cartridge in a long action receiver is what...

Also forgot to mention that scope mount is medium height because I was going to put on a 50mm objective originally and ended up going with this scope for the cost at the time.

Not sure exactly but I know it's less than 100 and believe it's closer to 75. Have a couple boxes of brass I can throw in if interested.

    Arrow wraps

I use the 5" white ones. I like being able to see what the blood looks like and it's easier to see your hits with a big chunk of white on the end. I use weight inserts and/or heavy broadheads so I'm not worried about messing up my foc. I also think it helps to find the arrow if it gets buried in...

    338 win mag recommendation

Other than price of ammo, I think Rob's on to something with the 338-06. Ammo prices don't matter if you handled anyway. I'd like to build a 338-06 myself.

Lol I saw it on Netflix. So not sure how recent those episodes are. He and his buddy killed Idaho mule deer with Savages and I think I saw him hunt bear with one too.

I've seen him carry one in a couple episodes but I think he carries that custom rig most of the time.

    .22 LR Question?????

I'd definitely go with the Henry. Just because a lever action 22 sounds like a ton of fun. That's a really cool best mans gift btw.

Teacher/School shame 9 year old girl for hunting

This is insane. I'd raise all kinds of cain if anyone ever did that to my daughter. That teacher has no place saying that to a kid or trying to interject their opinions like that. What shocked me the most though was that the school backed up the teacher.

You don't hear a ton about the Savages but they really are great guns IMO. If you're OK with a push-feed action, I think it's hard to go wrong with them. Mines been a great shooter.

Can't really help much with a .338 but you mentioned the Savage 111. That's a blued rifle. For a "one-and-done" type rifle, I wouldn't consider anything but a stainless gun. Also, I kinda went down this road a few years ago. I wanted a rifle for anything in North America. I got a Savage 116 in...

ATA 2017 - Browning Speed Load Knives

Very cool. I like the look of this better than a Havalon. I would still like to see a fixed version of this instead of a folder. Those blades look substantial enough that you actually could sharpen them if you needed/wanted to.
