you eliminate the 2, or 3, steps for a lot of hunting situations with mpbr zero, ie; you only need to get the rangefinder out altogether once beyond that, so you're missing my point, and some of my whitetails as well
this rangefinder built into bino thing seems to keep coming up, I have both...
In this thread let’s look at PRS (Precision RIFLE Shooting) vs a new vision of competition that would more closely follow the limitations/rules/laws we now further understand a fifth of the way into this century, and have probably defined better here (in a roundabout way) on this next level...
you don't do anything without the rangefinder? that's what mpbr zero is for...it eliminates the need to take all of those steps you just listed, do you not have rough idea what mpbr looks like afield without the instruments? the ranging comes out when it is beyond mpbr and all the time in the...
dialling from 100 zero for mpbr zero big game hunting takes too long, adds 3 steps steps (ranging, correction solution calculating, then applying the correction solution), in a zone of hunting where time is most sensitive, especially so on a few of the big game species we chase, maybe less...
Tried what? How do I know if I can be good at competition if I haven't tried it? I don't. We're not on a competition forum. But I know how to do long range hunting because I've tried that, with plenty of gear/methods, bow/gun, and been shooting along side pal that does both and our freezers and...
lmao, no kidding, I was wondering when this might start coming out in discussion, I don't think you're alone here, there's lots of mule deer heavy guys here and they are way different, we hunt em both in Alberta, muley's are walk in the park in comparison
every hunt can be a learning experience, every foresight into 'what ifs' and others combined lessons are things that can be used to eliminate as many of those as possible, and that is exactly what this thread is about, we all have different comfort levels and acceptance levels of many of these...
haven't read all the responses yet but so at risk of pointing out the obvious, a coyote at 100 is about the same as a whitetail at 300, both flighty af and paranoid, so stands to reason your deer kills will come about 3x further than your coyote kills, most can math the dots on the subject, the...
well, long range 'hunting' is still hunting and you have to start somewhere, it's ok to discuss where we start from and why, we don't just have special blinders on when we go afield that eliminates anything alive inside 300 yards from our vision lol
no I haven't pulled a moose tag since, maybe next season? if you bring up the only forum I've ever been banned from you should explain why I was banned? I'll do it for you, it was for trying to warn/save as many as possible about the lies surrounding covid and the shots from our government and...
Haha, love it, we all get hair brained ideas and try new things. Human nature, we tend to forget why we do things a certain way in the first place and get bored and decide we need a challenge in life and it's exciting to open up a can of worms every now and again. We usually get to meet Murphy...
so run this example back, no buddy giving solution, elk or whitetail at 150-275 yards (incredibly common range where you will have little time to find out), no time to range, you know it's inside your mpbr and your zero at 100? tag soup for you...full freezer for mpbr zero hunters, that...
I didn't say the worst wouldn't be taken into consideration. As a hunter my experience is the first shots of the day are usually my best and tend to do all prep and set up around them. Average group size is known, my best and worst known. I've just never looked at average from point of aim...
it is a nice convenience to not have two different optics, and one that converts your yardage to dial up if you're not running a speed dial (almost makes it as good as a speed dial ;) ) but you don't need either with a mpbr zero inside mpbr so nothing is coming up but the rifle
you double to...
good redundancy, my riflescope can do both as well, I'll stay fixed on my bow sight though for hunting, would only play dial for the range stuff or if I really needed to drift one out there 80-100 for some really out of the ordinary reason, some of us figure out where the bottom of the sight...
Loved it.
My take aways:
1. Hornady will have to stay sharp on producing factory ammo that's tight once guys start comparing their factory to competitors. Good for us factory ammo shooters, bit risky for Hornady lol.
2. The most reliable zero method a no brainer. Hunter only so the 3 shot cool...
the shortcoming was only your proficiency level with the method chosen, either systems would have worked for you had you done the right amount of the right practice before the opener, good example though and perfect humility to see what you needed to do next
yes and paranoid flighty game like whitetails...muleys and sheep defence mechanisms a little different, they rely on sight and distance will often give you more time, stop for a shot after short distance etc.
ranging is mandatory for archery, do you use fixed pin or dialling sight? you eliminate one step with fixed pin as it's already hard enough bowhunting and guys get caught out all the time with dialling sights
Yup, takes too long, added 2-3 steps unnecessarily, works fine for all range work, works fine for plenty of big game situations, maybe even most, but it will catch you out, you will meet Murphy when you really don't want to.
step 1. your pull out and use a rangefinder
step 2. you consult your...
