    hiding your home defense weapon?

I don't have anyone in my home that can't be trusted with a handgun at the moment but I wear my handgun until I go to bed. When I retire for the evening I place the handgun between the mattress and box spring. When I awaken I don my pants and also don my gun. If I were you I'd be looking at a...

Do your research before joining "sportsmens conservation" type groups...

I cannot, in good conscience, support BHA as much as I love backcountry hunting. Being that this nation was founded as a republic the ownership of vast swaths of land in the western states should belong to the states and not the federal government. I resent that someone far away in Sodom on the...

What is your backup plan if you don't draw?

My plan is to just buy points this year as I'm headed to Newfoundland for moose season.

    Only one rifle.

Currently I have a 3 gun battery. 6.5x284, 30-06, and .338 Win Mag. I'm adding a fourth rifle to the battery in 30-06. If I were you I'd look at the 30-06. It's not new, or flashy, and while other rounds might outperform it the 30-06 has been quietly getting the job done for over 100 years...

    Bear Gun

Thank you sir. I've carried, and used a handgun for a few years. I started back in the day when revolvers were the norm and not the exception. With that said a handgun is never my first choice but it's something I can have on me no matter what I may be doing outdoors. I've got a model 58 for...

    Bear Gun

I look at any handgun as something better than a sharp stick but not the preferred line of defense. The handgun is for that late night trip to the outhouse. :)

    30-06

Just to clarify. While I don't plan on shooting game at 600 meters if I can get closer I want the rifle, and myself capable. The .338 is my elk and great bear rifle. I shoot it pretty good but do think it's more than needed for a lot of hunting I do. While I have a 6.5x284 I'm not enamored...

    Luggage recommendation for airline travel.

I use a frame backpack but I place it inside a Samsonite wheeled luggage when traveling and then leave the Samsonite at the main lodge or a locker at the airport until I fly out.

    Bear Gun

Just thought I'd post a pic of the handgun I picked up for bear defense. I've already got a model 58 for bipedal defense. S & W, Model 57, 6" barrel, prelock, pinned and recessed, .41 Magnum.

    30-06

I've got a question and wondering what you all think. Currently I have a 22" barrel 30-06 that I'm happy with. It's a half MOA rifle. I'm considering getting a second one with a 26" barrel to take advantage of some of the slower powders and heavy bullets. This would be a two 30-06 combo with...

    Socks- lt,mid,heavy

I use expedition weight wool socks year 'round with a silk liner. Works for me. If you change the weight of your socks you change the fit of the footwear. Best to use the socks you fitted the footwear with or obtain new footwear.
