Mounted and ready to go, hoping to get out tomorrow for some testing, see what the weather is like…. Also don’t mention the purple walls, my wife likes purple and she doesn’t care what I buy so purple walls it’s is lol
I’d recommend a browning x-bolt 2 spr, It’s not a 22” but a 20” and so far no complaints. I’ve shot out to 1100 yard and have shot a couple deer and coyotes from 75-360 yard and have no problems spotting impacts.
I shoot with a brake, buts that because our government is a bunch of morons...
Alberta has some great moose hunting, although this past fall was slow, especially towards the middle/end of September when archery ends for us residents who didn’t draw.
However if you decide to come, I would suggest end of October to mid November. I know it’s not what most would recommend...
Perfect! This is a great idea, I’m not overly confident it’s going to pass, but am going to go into this with an open mind and no bias towards it.
Hopefully be able to start this in the next week or two, still have 2 elk tags to fill and because of a stupid accident (own fault) this fall was...
I’ve only ever tried a VX-3HD which was on a tikka 338 win and it did seem to hold zero quite well, but didn’t keep the fun or optic long enough to really test it.
I did just buy a VX5 to put through it paces. Since no one else will try one I figure what the heck.
I will not however have...
I had a ricochet this year with a 175gr eldx, didn’t see then branch when I shot, but I saw it crack and drop after the shot. Deer was at roughly 150 yards and hit the branch about 30 yards in front of the deer. Was aiming for behind the shoulder, hit the branch and hit her in the neck. I’m...
Finally got out to the range again after the scope and myself took the hard fall, so far so good. Didn’t have to touch anything so hopefully it continues to hold zero and I’ll have no complaints
I had a extreme tungsten in 7mm rem mag and it was a great gun, back then I was still only shooting 3 shot groups and it would put those in .75-1.25" groups pretty consistently. Right now I'm shooting the X-Bolt 2 and to me I'd prefer the X-bolt. 10 shot groups between 1.3-1.6" and as much hate...
my old xbolt was a synthetic blued after they stopped using the duratouch finish, the new one is the speed spr and its just rubberized on the forend and grip by the trigger
The stock for one, like the rubberized texture they used on the handling surfaces, the ability to change the grip rather than the traditional grip, the comb adjustment is nice, trigger is better (still not perfect but better) and the action is definitely smoother. I got mine in 7 PRC with 20"...
I had the original x-bolt, tikka T3 & T3X & now the x-bolt 2, I have a tikka T3 in 300 wsm that I’ll never get rid of but right now I think I’d pick the x-bolt 2 over any of them. If it was the old x-bolt, I’d prefer the tikka.
To me, I’ve owned both scopes and I actually prefer the glass of the veracity. Not sure if it was just my LHT or what but I found it very dull and almost hazy.
Today I’m going to go check my zero and see if the veracity holds up, took a decent fall last night coming down a ridge and the scope...
General, any problems with batteries dying? Replaced the set that came with the scope with a set of energizer, used it yesterday and now today dead! Maybe it was just a bad set of batteries? Seems odd though
Hey General, are you still liking the scope?
I just had mine out today for the first time and so far seems good. Got my velocity and after putting 30 rounds through it I tried 4, 5 & 600 yards all with impacts.
Picked up another rifle in 7PRC, this time a browning x-bolt 2 spr. Shot it today with the remaining hornady 180 ELD-M, and Nosler 175 ABLR’s plus the Federal 175 ELD-X. Hornady averaged 2701 fps and shot about a 1.5 mos group for 8 shots (all I had left) Nosler averaged 2738 fps and just like...
