Definitely lots of “Bros” at the gym. I don’t really care for it, so really don’t go often.
Craziest thing I saw was in high school at our local gym. A guy in his 50s or early 60s collapsed while on a treadmill. People rushed over and started performing CPR - EMS arrived within about 8 min...
Yes, built on a short action. I tested the 145 Barnes LRX, 145 hammer HHT, 160 accubond, and the 175 Berger EH.
All shot very well, but went with extra speed from the Barnes. Took this bull at 415 yards and this buck at 350 yards a couple of weeks ago. My brother in law used my rifle to take a...
I found Barnes .284 145 gr LRX on clearance for $24/box this summer. For the price, thought it was worth trying in my 7 SAUM. Killed a bull elk at 415 yards and whitetail buck at 350 yards a couple of weeks ago. Worked great on both animals.
I’m not a mono guy at all, but I would keep using...
I may do this as well - my 223 CTR shoots great, but the throat is quite short, even with a 69 gr TMK. Tried to take care of it the old fashioned way by just shooting it a lot haha.
I have a 1:8.5 twist as well. I went with a 20" barrel since I knew I'd be using a suppressor the entire time.
26" barrel is fine - not my preference, but it's up to you and your hunting style to determine if that would work for you.
Simple single color on a Stockys VG for a Howa mini. Original bare carbon was way too glossy.
Sponge and several coats of matte clear coat looked much better.

At this point, I’m fine holding out for a mature buck or bull. I hunt Wyoming often and a nonresident bull tag is like $800 and deer is $380. If I don’t find the buck or bull I’m looking for, I’m not pulling the trigger. I enjoy the hunt and experience, but I don’t feel obligated to fill the tag...
88s have worked well for me on game. Mule deer buck at 315 soaked up a shot in the crease, took some steps, then tipped over. No exit.
Doe antelope at 420 frontal shot, ram about 30 yards and expired.
Coyote at 600 - half dollar sized exit and died on the spot.
Shot a badger at 520 and saw...
These threads always go this direction. OP states which would you go with: A or B?
Inevitable answers: None! Those suck! Go with X, Y, or Z. It’s out of your budget but…
I’m not a Ruger or Howa fan at all, but the OP doesn’t want to spend more money on a Tikka - even though I would argue the Tikka is a better rifle. But for his applications, I’m sure either of his choices would be fine.
Sure, maybe.
But hitting low and then causing a ricochet that hits the intended POA? Again, anything is possible - but I'd say it's pretty low odds of that actually happening.
Forgetting to return to zero would’ve resulted in a miss high or spined animal, not a ricochet and hit (which seems extremely unlikely).
None of us were there, we don’t have video, so it’s all just speculation. But to say - “had to have hit another animal first”, “must have hit a branch to...
Sounds like you want a magnum.... personally, I think a 6.5 PRC will be plenty adequate for the game you are looking at pursuing.
Again, if you think a 6.5 PRC is marginal, then go 300 WM or 300 WSM in the Savage.
SW was a great store when I was younger (early 2000s). Like others have mentioned, if you go in one now, it has low stock and hardly anything you'd want to buy.
Scheels is by far my favorite.
