Have listened to both those podcast but its been a while but I belive the Jeff short one he talks about the benefits of using a apr the years following a bad winter. The first year is not as important as the couple years following obviously we want a mild winter with that as well. I will have to...
Not sure if you understand biology but there is no way to produce a fawn with out a buck and there has been no significant study that shows single digit buck to doe ratios are good for the herd either its alot of I think currently that. The best think that could come of this discussion is for...
Your post proves you can manipulate that data the way you see fit I can do the same at the end if the day apr are in place and there is nothing we can do about it so it's not worth discussing.
Utah limited areas have the highest buck to doe ratio in the west and probabaly some good buck hunting. My guess they have not increased opportunity because the public hasn't asked for it they want to keep the hunting the way it is? Maybe utah sportsman need to speak up
Seams to me even if we...
Then what's the best metric to go off of. You keep making the comment that apr are a feel good measure when there is data that shows short term benefits to apr. Long term no I agree
Do you hunt bucks or does? For hunters a higher buck to doe ratio puts more huntable deer on the landscape...
Yeah I think the southern end of the range has had antler point restrictions. But some areas have not
Would you rather hunt region g in wyoming in a unit that has and a apr or a idaho general unit with no apr?
More deer on the landscape helps the buck to doe ratio. The data also shows after 3 years its not beneficial to keep apr in place and they should be removed if that's the case. But to do nothing or suggest we take the buck to doe ratios down to single digit ratio is crazy. Try that in your state...
Short term apr have shown to help the herd the years following a hard winter. It's funny seeing guys be against the apr because they theory is there will be hunters targeting the bucks that they want to shoot In 2 to 3 more years.
I don't see why they reduced nr but taking otc away from residents will hurt the resource and nr tag numbers even more. It will put the nr tags to be adjusted by the cap. And if you think that won't drive 90 10 I don't know what to tell you.
You limit residents and make them choose a tag that's...
Having listen to both of those podcast in the past I will have to go back and listen again but if I rember correctly the wyoming biologist states in that rokcast podcast that the years following a hard winter like we had are the best times to use a apr. Typically not the first year. but the few...
Only some units have had a 3 point restriction not everything in western wyoming had a apr until last year. After a winter that killed a very large number of deer these are the years where the DATA shows the short term benefits of apr that should be utilized. Use the tool then switch it back...
I thought there was a study that showed that the 4 pt restrictions works in a limited capacity after 3 years it starts to go the other way so obviously you wouldn't want to go past what the data shows.
If someone walks away from a deer they shot that wasn't legal who knows what else they are...
