I make my own. One pound of beeswax and one wax toilet ring. I have enough to outfit a medival British army. But it works great. Just the right amount of tackiness.
Looking for a sleeping pad and bag that will work for me. I’m 6’4”. Budget on the bag is $250 prefer down and whatever I can find for a pad. Early season Colorado. I see a lot of stuff that is labeled “long” or “tall” but who knows.
I bottomed out the limbs. Checked the timing, through paper still perfect bullet holes.
291fps. I’m going to stick with the Axis. They seem like a solid arrow.
I turned the bow up to 70lbs. She’s moving right along around 285ish and still shoots nice clean bullet holes. Actually I’m building up two identical arrows right now and will shoot her tomorrow for groups at distances. If these work out the. I’m gonna just ditch the ICS arrows and use them for...
I cut the arrow back to the front of the riser and gave each limb a half a turn. Bow is at 67lbs now. Was at 65ish.
282fps from a 520gr arrow. Not too shabby!?
The lighter 300 ICS are clocking at 278fps and the Axis 260s are right at 260fps. I can cut the Axis about 3/4” shorter but I don’t want to go further as I like my arrowheads just in front of the riser. So the 9-10grs probably won’t make up much difference.
I guess I’m just wondering g if...
So my ICS 300s were a little underspined for my set up and draw length. They weighed in at 460grs with 125 grams point. So I got a dozen Axis 5mm 260s. The ICS 300s kept giving me a slight left tear i couldn’t tune out and could occasionally fix by very precise form. I cut one of the Axis to...
So here’s what I put together. I had the board laying around from another project as well as the clevises. The padding is double layer of tool. I’d drawer liner stapled on. All the hardware is mounted to the board with 1 1/2” lag screws.
You don’t even need a plan. Get a 2x10. Mount a trailer winch from Lowe’s on one end centered. Leave about 8” extra behind the winch. Get a 3/4x6” piece of black threaded pipe nipple. A 3/4” mounting base for the pipe. Figure out the longest draw you’d encounter and add about 12” and mount the...
The closest archery shop is 20 miles from me. Doesn’t make it easy to get things set up the way I like when it’s 40 miles round trip every time I want to adjust something or try something new. I broke down and bought an arrow saw last year because I got tired of having someone else cut them and...
So I’m a 30” draw length shooting 70lb draw Halon 6. My arrows are 30.5” long throat of the nock to the end of the shaft. I’m shooting ICS 300s with a 125gr point.
The bow is set up great and I have a very slight nock left tear in paper that I haven’t been able to tune out swapping top hats. I...
Thanks guys. I bought my buddies Halon 6. I like the feel better. I am waiting on the DL mods and then I’ll get it set up. Probably put new string and cables on it.
Gonna hold on to the HTR for now. It really is a nice bow and maybe it will be my back up.
I’m just curious what the performance is verse the trade off in not being exhilarated with the draw cycle. I can certainly shoot it well and it’s not a deal killer but a buddy is selling his Halon 6 that’s minty.
Hi everyone. Just curious of how my set up is doing. Shooting a Mathews HTR No Cam. A 30” draw at 71lbs. 30.5” ICS 300 shaft that weighs 465gr with the point. Going across the chrono at 268fps with the occasional 269fps. The bow shoots well and is more constant in shot to shot velocity, grouping...
I’ve never done an Appleseed shoot but I’ve competed a little in service rifle shooting for my base rifle team using irons on an M16/AR15 match rifle.
The techniques of slinging up and the three positions will seem hard at first and they will be ridiculed by a lot of the tacticool types but I...
Just trying to get an objective look at my gear. The rest is an AAE DOA drop away and the sight is a Cobra Buckhead that I’m replacing over the winter. Torn between a SpottHogg or Black Gold. I shoot a Scott Rhino release.
