Neat. Maybe its barrel dependent. Tested this across barnes, hornady, and Lehigh bullets with major POI and accuracy shifts (oddly left to right shifts as well).
FWIW I shoot suppressed so the additional backpressure may impact
3 of 4 were semis with chrome lined barrels. Bolt is a stainless...
Heard back from DRT. Might give it a shot, 1600-1800 is what he's saying for 223 as a minimum. But recommends a 79gr round which ain't going to move that fast to begin with. Not sure how sold I am on the powdered copper concept, sounds like a good way to end up with copper fragments peppering...
I did, shooting supressed I noticed I do have to clean them more often than I used to keep them shooting well. Some of my guns like the Barnes just fine but most I can get cheap fmj's to shoot better.
I've shot barnes for many years now, without much problem, other than none of my rifles particularly like them. Every now and then I'll grab a random box of some other copper and shoot it. Recently I tried the Hornady CX in 223 and it shot wayyy better out of one of my AR's (went from 1.5 MOA to...
Good for you, I practically live there and have taken 20+ animals in the area. If you know something of bear fat that time of year by all means, share, if not then jog on guy.
There is no rule about specific areas. Alaska is a big place. I understand these animals better than you ever will, you're just not understanding the area in question. You're single Alpine bear isn't relevant to my question as its in a completely different habitat.
I've killed an 18 year old...
What a nothing burger. My ask is areas specific and a local is more likely to understand why timing is relevant.
So coastal is basically a gamble even later in the year, and focus on alpine areas far away from salmon sources.
My understanding is the flavor of what their eating is stored in...
Hey y'all,
Took a bear on September 19th that was delicious, took one on September 28th that was rancid. Both out of whittier, granted that last one was old and had little fat on her so probably wasn't eating enough berries to begin with.
I want to take my kid out to try to find her first bear...
Looking for somewhere to go hunt hogs (night) and maybe some deer. Most the searches I've done all seem to be high fence situations which isn't what I'm looking for.
Anyone got any experience with any of the ranches down there?
State Vet said the white spots is Sarcocystis and the orange spots "Multifocal random infection, could be bacterial, parasite migration or fat necrosis". No further info than that...
Got a black bear in Prince William Sound last night and he had these orange spots on his fat and all the meat had white spots through it. Wanted to see if yall knew anything about that, never seen it.
If you want breathability the hilleberg is worse than the storm star. If you use the storm star as instructed its not bad. There is a right way to lay in it with a head and foot side. Open the vents, point toward where the wind is. Didn't have any issues with 2 dudes in monsoon rains and winds...
I use 2 point slings on my AR style rifles and I prefer it honestly having the rifle slung in front of my while walking through brush.
Anyone figured out a good way to configure a setup like this that doesn't interfere with a framepack (using the KUIU Pro frame)? Its the one downside I've...

@HuntInWild88 Thanks for the ping.
My old man got the Stone Glacier Bag. We're both built the same, 6 foot, 160-190 lbs
Most my trips the last 2 years were boat based (aluminum so moisture was a thing but never a problem) or a cabin. That being said I've spent about 60 days in it with no...
