I have used #6 steel from Kent at 1400fps it's a little less forgiving but it works when we hunt dove quail and pheasant in ditches.

You can also do water retrieves and get to the dog before it gets to land.

Waterboy, yes you can bring the birds back but they will need to be cooked thanks to the US Government.
You'll be hunting feed lots over grain piles.

Bore is good and I like the blue steel look over cerakoted.
