Mauled by a brown bear and shoots himself

I would love to ask that guy a couple questions;

1) Would you have had time to pull out a can of bear spray, release the safety and deploy?

2) Would you have been able to get off an accurate shot with a Kydex holster that released your pistol on the first go around?

Very common in African buffalo hunts. Most commonly the guided hunter accidentally shoots the professional hunter or the tracker.
If I'm getting chewed on I may use John's line.

( Most of the younger crowd probably haven't heard this)

Edit: wrong video , will try again.
Cant't figure it out. Oh, maybe.......

I'd imagine that a bear attack would bring on John's way of thinking. Been hearing this tory for almost 40 years and I still belly laugh at that line.

Glad he and his Dad are OK, close call. He said he unloaded the whole mag, 7 shots. Doesn't the Glock 10mm hold 15? Sounded like his Dad finished the bear off (after 6 point blank 10 mm rounds) with a 40 cal. if I understood it correctly.

Mine does........

I need to watch his interview again but are any of you guys actually carrying quick clot? I watched in a hurry yesterday and maybe I’m missing something. That’s an insane story, glad they survived!

It sounds like he did a hell of a job. My only concern would be crossfire on the initial volley. I assume he was slinging hardcast which can get a little sporty if they don't hit bone. Lots of guys squeeze the grip like hell in high stress and eject the mag on the Glocks. Maybe why he stopped at 7? Who knows. Super lucky dude. With no backpack the shoulder swipe might have been a third tourniquet.

Yes. In my first aid kit.

Interesting story to learn from. Tourniquet and quick clot are a must and knowing how to use them will surely help our odds of surviving.

Does he get any pain meds on the flight or do they have to wait until they know if he needs surgery first?
