Ah, I'll wait on the local shop. I went by there today and they may be getting some in. Midsouth want to charge me $52 to ship. I'd like some XBR but I'm not desperate enough to pay $122 for 1 lb of powder. Ridiculous.
This is just like when we were duck hunting in the late 80's early 90's and the mandate for steel shot. Claims were made in Louisiana that the ducks were picking up lead eating them, thus killing them. What we found was that Lead knocked their aZZ off stone cold dead, while the steel didn't...
Love mine, and that older T3 I picked up from you several years ago still hammers. The sponge paint job you had on it is just starting to wear on the forearm where the bag sits, but still shoots lights out. The CTR 20" I picked up and put on a diet is damn near as lite as the T3. the shorter...
Yes, .5g increments. Sometimes I go to the range, other times I just shoot it in the ditch. Strictly looking for pressure signs. Once I find pressure, I use to back off 2g. Load 3 at say 47, the 47.5 and so forth up to right at Max pressure. Like in the pic below, at 49.5g, I still didn't...
49g is pretty full but I don't hear any crunching. It could be slightly compressed.
I did have a load with TAC at 50g with fed 210m primers, but TAC was hard to find and I have about 4lbs of varget. Thus me finding a load with it. Didn't try TAC with the cci200's, so really no comparison. But...
Have you tried shooting with these? With an advertised BC of .519, they have a better BC that the 155 scenars of .460
The 155 scenars hammer in my CTR, and there is a thread on the campfire of tons of game kills with them even though they are advertised as a target round.
My CTR 20" on a diet (4-16x50 Trijicon Credo 25.5oz with UM rings, removed the CTR rail)
Weighs less that 1 lb than my T3 Lite (4-16x56 Schmidt Bender Polar T96 28.5oz, Vortex precision matched rings with Mountain tactical rail)
The CTR stock, bottom metal, and mag weight more than the...
The switching back and forth between copper and lead had no accuracy effects on either of my tikkas, T3 lite and CTR, both in 308. I shoot 130ttsx handloads, 155 scenar handloads, fed blue box 150's from Walmart, and rem corloks 150's from Walmart and all hammer. So it may effect some depending...
Its not just the speed, 8208 XBR is not temp sensitive and is similar to varget. I wanted to try them in my 155 scenars because at 47.5g of varget I get 2840 out of my 20" CTR and 47g gets me 2862 out my T3, but very compressed loads. Read a few threads on it and saw very similar velocities...
I have a good supply of varget but I wanted to try some 155's with 8208 to see if can get a little more velocity in my CTR 20". I have TAC also, but 8208 is more like varget in temp stability. But I'm not gonna work up a load for it and can't get any more of it.
I have just about 1 lb left and haven't seen it available in a year. Did they stop production on it, or is it just a fable unicorn that is unobtainable?
I'll have to try the washers. I did the SS tubing on my CTR because of the stock, not the bottom plastic. There appeared to have a small void in the stock from the factory. This caused the bottom plastic to flex some. So filled in the slight void and installed the tubing. The washers...
I'm glad this came up because I considered a 695 action to do a LA build because I was told that the mags are longer than the T3/T3x. Do you happen to know the max caol for cartridges in a 695?
I have several tikkas (T3 308, T3 7mag, CTR 308) and the older Browning Abolt II Medallion in 7mag. He is correct, the M-carbe spring was the only thing that I did to my Browning since 1994 and it still drives tacks. The action is as slick or slicker than all my Tikkas. Mine is however blued...
