    Sig Sauer KILO1800BDX 6x22mm Laser Rangefinder $180

I’ll probably jump on this, on the off chance anyone else has a discount code they don’t plan on using and want to PM me, I’d appreciate the favor and would be sure to pay it forward.

    lost fishing rod.

I sent a nice rod and reel to the bottom once. Luckily I got an anchor down fast enough I was able to pull it out with another rod after thing on a bunch of sinkers and the biggest trebel hook I had. That took some doing. I used to use the floats but hated them on my rods. I now generally...

    Whitetail Hunting Books

Your experaince is similar to my own in Michigan. Do you find the Eberhart books to be different enough it’s worth getting a second or third? I’m currently reading Bowhunting Pressured Whitetails and had thought about picking up another of their books but have heard they are all pretty much...

    Gyotaku

I’d say I aspire to be able to that level of the art but that may have to wait for retirement, too many things to do in what free time I can get now. That’s a great gift!

    Gyotaku

You’ve given me something to research, I’ve never heard of spore prints. I wonder if you could very lightly spray the paper with a clear coat or adhesive and get the spores to adhere?

    DIY Milkweed Dyneemacator

Nice idea! My wife planted some native milkweed in a garden bed this year and I saved some of the pods for wind indicator as well as future plantings. I hadn’t yet figured how I would carry it but I have a good idea now. It is amazing how many more butterflies and caterpillars we had around...

    Gyotaku

I don’t know how many folks are familiar with Gyotaku, my guess is very few hence the post. For those who fish as well as hunt and want a nice memento from a special trip or special fish it’s a fairly easy souvenir to make. I “inked” the crappie, pressed it on rice paper, my wife did a little...

An Invitation to Prayer & Fasting 1/5/21, 1/6/21

My faith certainly informs my mostly progressive politics. Not all Christians are conservative. I’ve been praying for our country as well. Ultimately for Christians our goal shouldn’t be for one party or another to score points but to work towards the redemption of this world.

What’s the coolest thing you found in the back country

Most of my “back country” time is in Michigan where I seem to only find trash or junk. I have found some fossils and old miners stuff. The only arrowhead I’ve ever found was in the middle of Indianapolis as a kid digging in the vegetable garden. Points and petroglyphs are what I am really...

    Best turkey red dot

I’m thinking about getting a cheap (less than $100, probably less than $50) red dot in the next week or two and seeing how it holds up for turkey. I’ve read enough accounts of the $30 ones holding up to 12ga turkey loads that it seems like it’s worth a shot. I generally like the buy once cry...

    Robot vacuums

We got one, it works well. Still vacuum occasionally. Our preference was getting one that is “dumb”. Any that connect to the web map your house. It’s sounds crazy but you might start seeing furniture ads if it thinks you have room for a couch. The upside of connecting to the web is it supposedly...

    BHA seems “all-in” with Biden

You caught me, I’m on a hunting forum because I don’t like guns and I hate freedom..... A lot of the complaints I’ve heard outlined against BHA on this thread without any real evidence make seem like those folks would be a lot more fun to have a pint with than those making accusations that...

    BHA seems “all-in” with Biden

I don’t know how true this is either, it seems like main complaint is they are “environmentalists”. Environmentalists has too many meanings to be a useful term now but I think as hunters and anglers we should all be on board with having clean water and land fish and animals thrive in.

    BHA seems “all-in” with Biden

Could be true, worst comes to worst I’m out $35 and don’t join again. Not opposed to finding out they aren’t all that great but I haven’t seen anything concrete in this thread that they are bad, just a lot of rumor. I’ll reread more carefully though and consider any documented allegations folks...

    BHA seems “all-in” with Biden

I’m not dismissing that easily but if an organizations primary focus is hunting it makes sense to me that they focus on land not guns. From the attitude a lot of people on here have you would think every person who voted democrat wants to take their guns, it’s simply not true. Nor is it true...

    BHA seems “all-in” with Biden

Hence why I joined for a year to see what the guys are really about. They are not the only conservation organization I support.

    BHA seems “all-in” with Biden

Makes sense to me that they would be ready for a new administration after the last ones attitude towards public land. I joined yesterday for a year because they have a local chapter I can check out and see if it’s a group I can meet some folks interested in the outdoors and do some local...

    New Model 70

I have used far fewer rifles than a lot of folks on here so take my opinion for what it’s worth. I bought a new .270 M70 Featherlight to be my one rifle and I’m happy with that choice. I figured if the gun was good enough for Jack O’Conner it’ll be good enough for me. Quality is good, it’s...

    Favorite Bourbon Opinions

I was a little hesitant to let anyone know about old grandad because it feels like such a secret. Eagle rare used to be that way too then people caught on and the price went up. Old grandad is just good, seems like a bourbon 100 years ago would of been vs a woodford type of modern bourbon...
