    Neck shot ethics

I’d never intentionally take a neck shot since there is a lot of really good meat on the neck. Way less meat loss just behind the shoulder.

    KUIU pant sizing change?

Yep, kuiu sizing is messed up. Last year I ordered guides in 34 and they were too tight even though my attacks fit great. Based on some posts in this thread, I just received the guides in 36 and they’re huge. I consider myself average build. I guess no guides for me.

    Insoles…expensive mistake??

I’ve tried superfeet, sole, sofsoles, lathrop and sons, and superfeet and hands down superfeet are the best if you need arch support, followed by superfeet trailblazers. Sofsole if you don’t need as much support. Insoles are a very user specific investment. I have a fallen arch on my right...

    Rabbit confit

Something like this: https://honest-food.net/fried-rabbit-recipe/ FYI, rabbits are nasty to clean IMO. I don’t hunt them much. The smell of their guts just doesn’t sit well with me and I have a strong stomach and enjoy cleaning other animals and most fish.

    Rabbit confit

Store bought duck fat. I have some pork fat in the freezer that I use in my burger and thought about using it but just went with duck.

    KUIU pant sizing change?

Sounds like I need to try the guides again and go with a 36. I wear 33-34 in all other pants with 34 in attacks. 34 in guides were too tight when I tried them last year so I sent them back and was also worried 36 would be too big. 5’11” and 190.

Do you have experience with a sled for hauling out game?

The rolled up sleds work well IMO. I shot a cow down in a basin and packed the meat up to the rim in a few trips then sledded out the whole quartered animal a few miles downhill or flat. I like how the flexible sled moved over logs and bumps. I pull a rigid jet sled all winter ice fishing...

    Maven RF.1Stuck in Forest Mode

. Tried. No luck. I got back to the screen that wasn’t in the manual and it had “SP ln” display with an adjustable two digit number field, but no idea what it does. I think this screen is accessible by pressing and holding the menu button and after the full screen appears, pressing again.

    Maven RF.1Stuck in Forest Mode

I was getting familiar with my new Maven RF.1 range finder. Somehow, I got to a screen not mentioned in the manual and it had numbers in the upper right and letters in the lower left but I don’t recall exactly what they were and they didn’t make sense with other display info. When trying to...

Another year, another boot, another leaker.

FYI, once I’ve had a boot leak for the first time, I’ve had a difficult time re-establishing water proof-ness using conditioner/waterproofer/sealant. It seems to be quite temporary if doing a lot of hiking and encountering wet grass or snow. Just my experience.

Another year, another boot, another leaker.

Stiffer leather boots like scarpa kinesis pro will stay waterproof longer. It looks like your boots are far more flexible with softer leather. I don’t think they’ll keep the water out in wet grass or snow because the flexing will push water through the gortex membrane.

    Traditional pronghorn hunt

Very nice! What was his holdover at 150 yards? I shoot round ball in a 54 and it drops 6” between 75 and 100 yards with a similar load. I imagine there’s some serious drop at 150.
