It may be a gun problem... Often the supplied cap breech plug is just a bit short to work correctly with the nipple you might be using.
A simple test you can do... Turn your BP out about a 1/4 of a turn and pop 3 - 4 caps. If they all go off the way they are suppose to, you are going to need...

Then I would say that Steve's suggestion might be right on the ball. You could take it to a gun smith, it would be an easy task for him to accomplish.

Not Good!
Once the bullet is through the crown - just through the crown does it require the same loading pressure continually the rest of the way down the bore?
Steve is an excellent contact at Knight. I would ask him if he might take a look at the rifle. He just might,

you may have a big problem shooting full bore bullets, if you notice tighter crown and a larger bore. The full bore will be sized to the tight crown then easily (to easily) slide the rest of the bore.
On the other hand it will probably shoot sabots very well.
Knight may help you out with your...
I use both powders equally effectively. There is no doubt that BH is more convenient and easier to use. But at this house it is not worj the price difference at all.

The Ampco is another good one except the flash hole needs to be drilled out to 0.031. The AMPCO is built for true BP.
The LK is a very good old standby. It really should shoot very well for you. And you are correct about the old time tight ML rules that we have here in Idaho. The traditional ML hunters have a very strong lobby on the Idaho Fish and game.
Personally I use a lead Bull Shop bullet. A .503x400...
One thing I might suggest is to make sure your front bipod rest is not out near the sling mount. Try to have it around 4" in front of the trigger guard. With the support way out front you might be messing with the barre harmonics of the rifle.
3" @ 100 with open sites is not bad at all for...
To me it depends mostly on what your ignition source is and the construction of the breech plug. What rifle are you using and what ignition source?
I have never had a problem with the ignition or performance of T7 in the different weather conditions, If I do my part.
Yes, I have shot that from both a Knight Ultra-Lite and a Mountaineer.
Then you will not be able to reliably ignite BH-209. Percussion cap ignition is required in Idaho during ML sesaon.
The 1081 will work very well with T7 and other BP subs, other than BH.
I prefer to use a #11 Mag cap...
You can not use 209 primers in Idaho either - UNLESS - you are hunting during the regular rifle season.
+ for Idaho you have to use a lead conical. I use Bull Shop .503x400LGP's with 90- to -100 grains if T7-2f by volume, with a MMP sub base under the bullet. That is was formed the cup in the...
We do not need to wait for my water testing trip. Grouse recently made a trip to SSK (his recent post) and as part of his trip he and Gordo of SSK did the water testing for all of us.
They set 5 jugs of water on a plank approximately 100 yards down range. The first 3 jugs were white 1 gallon...
I now believe I have the correct information to share with the forum.
I need to thank a forum member Grouse for helping figure out the differences in the bullets I was using versus the bullets he was using in his new SSK Mongrel rifle.
The picture below shows the difference between the 265...
