    I expect a lot of the old guide light packs will start to hit the classifieds like the K3's did when Exo released new packs... personally I can't justify spending 500+ on a new pack for some insignificant upgrades.

    For the most part your gear will be the same for a 2 day hunt as it would for a 10 day hunt with the exception of food which can take up a lot of space on a long hunt. I have a MR beartooth which is slightly larger than the metcalf. IMO the metcalf should be big enough for what you described.

    What do you do for a living?

    Law enforcement. 12 hour shifts so work about 15 days a month. The usual comp time/PTO bank which does not take long to build up. Full retirement at age 50.

    keep the back strap either whole or cut in a couple sections. marinade. and grill it like you would tri tip or on a traeger style smoker if you got one. Cook it to whatever temp you have determined to be safe for bear meat.

    Exo gun bearer experience?

    I use the Slik sling with a mystery ranch but i am sure it will work on an exo. Simple design and you can easily deploy the rifle quickly without taking the pack off and you can mount the gun while wearing the pack.

    If IDFG requires lymphnode from animals harvested in the unit then I bet a lot of people steer clear of the unit in order to avoid the hassle of collecting samples.

    Lots of Roads down there. Take ATV or side by side if you have one as others have mentioned the roads can be gnarly; I would honestly just try to cover lots of ground until you locate deer.

    Was out yesterday and saw lots of does and zero bucks. I would say still too early at least in my area.
