I've been experimenting with 4 fletch instead of 3. And using bigger 5 1/2 shield feathers. Seems to get the arrows straighter faster for shooting through tight spots. Even with heavy broadheads they fly like my field points.
I have a takedown which I can take apart / reassemble in a matter of minutes but I prefer to always have my bow in hand in case a shooting opportunity arises whether it be big or small game.
I love shooting woods but I do not have time to make enough arrows and keep up with the rate that I break wooden arrows. I have been using aluminum legacy shafts and they have been working great for me.
I like to carry a pack with weights in it. It is what you are training to accomplish, so why not just do it? It sure strengthens legs and core. I am not against gym workouts, I just find this to be more fun. I can scout and stump shoot (depending on the weight, 50 lbs and under I still shoot)...
About 3 months ago got hot while hiking out with a dead pig on my back. When I got back to the 4 wheeler I stripped off some layers to cool down. Had to take my bino case off in the process and managed to leave it on the ground in the dark and didn't realize until I got home. Had to go back out...
I used to clip a knife in my pant pocket and never had any problems with it coming off the attack pants but maybe that is just me. I now keep a fixed blade knife on my pack hip belt instead of one of the pockets. If you are concerned about losing it, throwing it in one of the cargo pockets seems...
Gotcha, that makes sense. Here are some other options from 3 rivers archery if you don't want to go the tape route:

Most encounters that I have had with anti-hunters have ended with them understanding why I hunt and how passionate I am about it. They aren't going out hunting tomorrow, but they get it. In these situations I try to keep my cool and explain the pro's of hunting and all of the conservation that...
I don't think I would want to wrap my bow in duct tape... they make sleeves you can slide onto the limbs if you really want to camo your bow. But if it is a tradional bow made out of wood isn't it already camo? there are lots of sticks in the woods...
Stid2677 That looks like it was a brutal fall and I hope any injuries you sustained are healed up.
In that cliff toss video I could not believe how well the 160 D Cordura held up. There was one small tear that was easily repairable and did not seem to effect the integrity of the pack at all...
I wanted to post this up on the other thread about the extreme testing but it is closed now. Apparently if you go to the woods and leave your computer for 5-6 hours threads are closed when you come back. Hopefully we can all be civil and have a positive discussion about gear and keep this thread...
Link to the Ultra cliff toss video. When I get one I will never carry it downhill. Bombs away!

once stuffed my zipper hasn't been a problem the few times I have stuffed it. I usually just put it in my bag and it fills any empty space in the bag and the more you fill up the pack the more it compresses. I would ask kuiu about it because that doesn't sound right.
like others said, if we just killed something every single time we drew back and it was that easy, it would probably lose much of the thrill of actually connecting with a traditional set up. For me, the challenge is a major part of the joy and I have learned to enjoy my missed opportunities by...
I like the zwickey delta. I glue the 125 grain onto my wooden shafts and they have worked great for me. I think a razor sharp edge from a file and shot placement is more important than a really heavy head. I have also shot the 170 grain screw in on aluminum legacy shafts as well. Not quite as...
I hope the owner can get em back, I left my bino's in the mountains near a friends ranch while out hog hunting a few weeks ago and was heartbroken because I knew I was not going to be able to afford to buy a new pair for quite a while. I was very lucky that my good friend went back out the next...
I like and wear a lot of the kuiu vias as well as some of my older sitka stuff which I am slowly phasing out. The quality and comfort of the gear is the most important thing to me, and I like the vias pattern too. May be worth checking out the verde pattern too if you think the vias is too light...
