    Tikka Woes

I would agree with you to a degree. Tikkas are nice but they aren't the end all be all. I think my Browning x bolt hunter is a nicer stock rifle, and it costed the same. But I think something that is underrated is reliability. Tikkas very rarely have feeding issues (not that ive ever had an...

I got a new trijicon accupoint- cool pic.

After a lot of research on here I ended up buying a trijicon accupoint 1-6 for my close range whitetail bolt rifle. I'm really impressed with it so far. I definitely think it gathers enough light to get me through legal hours. Here's a pretty cool pic I got last night in my backyard. I always...

    Lefty rifle for Alaska

Agreed. I've owned Browning and rugers as well. I think the tang safety is more important than a left bolt. The second shot on a whitetail from a treestand is a crap shoot anyway. Just my personal experience.

    Lefty rifle for Alaska

I'm also a lefty. I only shoot left hand bolt guns but I can't say it's been a huge improvement for me over a right hand gun. If you are going to hunt with a right hand gun, you need to make sure the safety is where God meant for it to be: on the tang. I couldnt imagine shooting a right hand...

UM Tikka rings... What am I missing?

That worked so well. You just relieved so much frustration. Thank you so much.

UM Tikka rings... What am I missing?

I just bought um Tikka rings for my Tikka t3x stainless. The little pegs that they include do not fit into the holes on top of the action. The threaded ones do not screw in, the non threaded ones will maybe go in if I take a sledge hammer to them. What on earth?

What has actually quit on you in the field?

I had an AR10 jam. Luckily it jammed on the shot that put the buck I was shooting at down. It spooked me enough to switch to bolt rifles exclusively.

    Sighting in a .22

I shoot pests at 50 yards out my back window, so that's what I sight in at. And then I shoot at 10 yard increments out to 100 and down to 20 and measure the drop and make a dope chart taped to my gun.

    Good optics for Tikka 30-06

Yes, get one of these and have fun chasing zero all over the place. The shv 3-10 is not FFP. My LGS has the shv for $999, sometimes on sale for $899. The SHV is within 1 ounce of a conquest and 3 ounces of a VX5. Nothing about your argument makes sense.

    Good optics for Tikka 30-06

I'm not sure about eye relief, but I just built a close range whitetail gun and I put a nightforce shv 3-10 on it. I am very happy with it.

    Bought my first Tikka.

That's what I have read. I hunt thick wet stuff. So putting the deer down fast is important. Excited to see how the eldm performs

Yes, 1:8, thanks for the advice.

    Bought my first Tikka.

After much reading on here, I have pulled the trigger on my first Tikka. I went with a t3x stainless in 6.5 creedmoor. I bought it as a close range (200 and in) whitetail gun. I'm sure there may be better cartridges for this, but I'm left handed so my options are limited, and I really wanted...

Sorry, there's probably a better place to find this answer, but I can't find it. Any idea when Browning x bolt stocks will be available?

That's a great idea. Thank you for the suggestion.

But that's my question, does the eye relief change enough with a variable power scope to cause an issue?

    RokStok

Sorry. I'm not good at explaining what I mean. The negative comb design just makes me worry that your head has to be in a very exact spot to see through the scope. And the correct spot may change as you zoom your scope in/out. And it may take me longer than usual to get my head in the correct...
