Left a spot for two hours for a lunch break .
Went back to the deli at the end of the day
where I took my break earlier. The proprietor screams from behind the counter: “ my son got a 10 pointer at the fire tower” !!!
I sat there freezing my toes, fingers, butt, nose and nuts all week in that...
Of course there are: Leupold, Vortex,Bushnell, Nightforce, etc. Good luck in deciding. They should all track well. I only have experience with Leupold. They work !
My one Zeiss Conquest works good too.
You’re in a good price point. There’s plenty available. Anything inside 400 second focal plane is fine. BDC not bad out to 500. Personally I don’t hunt long range and use quality second(rear) focal plane , duplex reticule scopes. 3-9 or 4-10 out 44mm objective lens fine. Even 40 & 34 mm good.
I...
I figure I’ll lean towards lighter recoiling rifles as I age. Firm grips have always worked better for me , magnum or not. My days of fully absorbing the recoil in order to aid spotting (reduced muzzle jump) are likely going to slow down with heavier recoiling rifles. That’s always helped with...
Talk about battle scars. Remember the incident as another badge of honor. Take consolation that it could have been worse.
Heal well and get out there again as soon as you are capable- no rush.
Mentally prepare to exercise patience. I had an Achilles tendon(the other end from yours)
that was painful and mildly debilitating for two decades; on some days ! However, yours may not end up nearly as bad.
Edit: come to think of it I also pulled it at the base of the calf like you pushing our...
I think they flattened the bolt, added a bushing and the bolt assembly runs through the bolt handle. Supposedly it helps make the bolt operate as smoothly in both directions- if I understand it properly. After reading comments here I’m encouraged that it won’t be a poor decision to buy a PH3...
I’ve had better luck and find sub MOA factory ammo in my factory rifles. My Steyr Mannlicher does particularly well. I don’t change things on my rifles. You can’t go wrong with good triggers and bedding if needed. Have fun - stay safe. There’s a few 30-06. I love the cartridge!
If I shoot 20 consecutive rounds of a factory ammo within 2”( two ten round strings mostly), I live with it if many of them within that group were sub MOA. 300 yards would be my max attempt at a harvest until I find better. I don’t like torturing myself. It’s easy to get caught up in; and...
Try not to feel too bad about losing one. That’s how I ended up with two. I misplaced the first one in a pouch pocket; for about five years thinking I lost it. Felt bad, bought another, then found the first. Point is, for some of us , getting attached to a Buck knife
🔪 is easy. Go buy a nice...
I would say 338wm (or .375 even) ; but you don’t like recoil. 30-06 very practical; especially that you have 6.5. Everything you mentioned that you’re considering is in the same category. That’s why many here say just keep the 6.5. You might actually be better off with a .223 to pair your...
