Hi guys. Looking for a 3-12x scope, main purpose is whitetail hunting from blinds overlooking bean fields. Primarily concerned with clarity/quality of glass and low light performance. Plex-type reticle, don't need a busy "Christmas tree." Illuminated reticle dot would be nice but I don't think it can be had in this price range. Scope weight isn't really a critical factor.

Anyway, after doing a bit of research here are what I think are some good options I've come upon:

Trijicon Huron 3-12x40 for $500
Swaro Z3 4-12x50 for $730
Zeiss Conquest V4 3-12x44 for $630

Anyone have firsthand experience with any of those scopes, especially if you've had more than one of them and could directly compare them? Also, is there anything else in that price range (or under) that might be as good or better?

Thanks in advance.

The trijicon i have on my son's 223 has been perfect. Id go that route. Although its a 3x9 credo. However given their track record I think you're relatively safe with the trijicons. The other two have failed the drop evals stupendously.

I have a couple of FFP LPVO Credo's and they are solid. Don't know about the Huron.

Out of those I’d go trijicon all day.

You could also get a 3-9 swfa hd for $600 which is my personal preference, but you’d give up a few times magnification with that.

You’re in a good price point. There’s plenty available. Anything inside 400 second focal plane is fine. BDC not bad out to 500. Personally I don’t hunt long range and use quality second(rear) focal plane , duplex reticule scopes. 3-9 or 4-10 out 44mm objective lens fine. Even 40 & 34 mm good.
I put the money into lenses. No illumination and gadgetry. I’m not of the school to spend as much or more on a scope. If you get out past 600 it may be time for you to consider
First focal plane (front) and mil dot. Good luck. You got plenty to spend. Certainly enough to complement a Seekins !

Of course there are: Leupold, Vortex,Bushnell, Nightforce, etc. Good luck in deciding. They should all track well. I only have experience with Leupold. They work !
My one Zeiss Conquest works good too.

Lots of love for the Accupoints rightfully so. What will be your farthest shot? Is low light performance important? If so, add the Accupoint 2.5-10X56 to your list. I've killed Deer easily out to 300 yards and the low light capabilities cannot be beat in it's price class.

I have a Huron 4-12x and it’s been perfectly reliable. I was very skeptical at first due to being so cheap, but it’s really won me over.

Trijicon Huron 3-9 if you want a 1” tube. Huron 3-12, Ascent 3-12, AccuPoint 3-9 (lightest of the bunch and lots of reticle options) or other Accupoints already mentioned.

you're 1 for 3 on scopes that have fared well on the drop tests. are you familiar with this subforum?
No, I am not but I will check it out.
If I'm not mistaken, he asked what is the best performing scope.
I've never met a Zeiss that I didn't like(self admitted pre-disposed bias).
Out of the scopes that he mentioned, chances are the Zeiss is going to have the best glass.
If durability is high on the list, vortex and Leupy are extremely durable and have good warranties.

I have an old 3x9 Zeiss and the glass is so damn good. Hold it's own against Leupy, Trij, Steiner, SIG, Eotech Vudo, and Vortex costing significantly more. Maybe it's because those are FFP and that Zeiss is SFP.
Tried the FFP 2-10 Credo and sent it back - soft at x10 compared to my FFP Eotech. My FFP Credo LPVO's no complaint with an exception of a manufacturer defect that they replaced.
Like anything YMMV.
Peace
