Drying Gear in the Backcountry - HOW???

I hunt similar conditions. Being wet is just part of the fun and it does become unavoidable, eventually, even with the best of the best gear. If it's wet, but not raining I always at least start off wearing my rain pants and gators. I find myself wearing rain pants on top of my normal pants 90%...

    Kifaru Box Stove Questions

New medium box stove and two questions/concerns. 1. Anyone else have concerns with the little door latch and how easily it falls off? It pops off super easily... I can push it back on, but that seems like a PITA if the stove is red hot and it seems easy to loose. 2. Following the instructions...

    Rain Gear in the backcountry

I usually pack both tops and bottoms. When I've rolled the dice based on forecast, I usually end up wishing I had it for helping cut the wind or chill while stationary glassing. BUT I get cold easily and live in WA. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

    Bear bag help

I keep all my food in a UL dry bag. My bear rope has a small caribeaner on it to clip to mine and my partners food bags when we hoist it. The rope is one I researched and ordered from a logging supply company. It's thin, lightweight, and coated in a wax like substance so it slides across...

    Ptiching Tipi in Sand

Thanks for the input. The "stakes" in the video from beachbunny look like they might work best for my concern. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

    Ptiching Tipi in Sand

Does anyone have any experience pitching a tipi (8 man Kifaru) in sand? If an area is nothing but loose sand (no other option available) would that be a disaster to attempt with a tipi? Late season, cold, windy....

    Kuiu Kenai super down sizing

My kenai fits small. I wear a medium in all Kuiu but should have up sized to a large. In general, the fit/cut seems a bit off compared to other kuiu tops. However, other than a bit on the heavy side and not the most packable, I was enjoy wearing it and appreciate the quietness and out zips.

Kenai or Teton any real world results

I like my kenai jacket, but have one main complaint. The arms fit tight. I can still wear layers under it, but it's not the perfect fit I get from other kuiu items. I do like the material that seems to get softer and quieter with each wear/wash, and the pit zips are great. Packability is so-so...

    Asolo Fugitive GTX

I had a pair for almost three years. The first two years I loved them, but the boots didn't stay on my feet after scouting season the third year. Although they looked good with no holes or obvious major degradation, they leaked really bad and my feet would get soaked just from walked through...

What knives are you using for mountain hunting?

Havalon plus a few blades for me and my hunting partner carries a "real knife". Together as a team its more than enough.

    Google Map Scouting

I would start with a trail map topo. Look for a trail to get you in the miles you plan on going that also has easy access to the terrain fulldraw describes above. Then once you've got a few ideal areas hop on Google and check them out for a different view. Nail it down, make a few way points...

    Disappointment and Frustration

Within 48 hours of my phone call to Kifaru about my questionable belt fit I had a new belt that fits perfect on my door step. The premium price come with matching service- use it!

Do you eat an entire mountain house?

I put down a Mtn. House without any hesitation at the end of a full day. However, a week straight of Mtn. House and I would be in for some horrendous gas. I usually mix it up with some mac n cheese/pasta dishes in between Mtn. House dinners.
