I have been on the walking end of many deer drives for my Grandfather, Father, Uncles, etc. Now that I have a son I am looking forward to being the beneficiary of young labor!

Yes. The first pic is my daughter standing on the bridge where it empties into Lake Superior.

I spent quite a few camping trips on the shore and along the BWCA when I was a kid. Then when my wife and I were dating we went there in 2003 and stayed at Judge Magney SP. We traveled the Superior National Forest and went to Canada while there. She liked it a lot even though the overnight lows were upper 30s in July. Decided we’d take the daughter and her friend back there last summer. They loved it and my wife wants to go back and stay at Sawbill which I’ve stayed at a lot as a kid. Planning for next year.

Daughter’s first hunting trip with me. She wanted to take her BB gun so she did. Sent the wife a pic and she said “what, no beer can?” Okay then. Wisconsin tailgate trophy pic it is.

Don’t worry, it’s empty.

This could be my favorite thread on here for a while. Thanks Robby! We have limited time with them to mold them and to guide them. Brings so much joy to me when I hear my kids recounting our adventures later on. They always seem to remember fondly the tiniest details from our trips, and can recount them long after I expect. #thegoodyears

Backpacked a piece of the Mah Dah Hey Trail yesterday through today with some friends. Kids had to carry all their own gear and water. No electronics allowed, and they didn’t even ask. The effort sucked a little, but they (unwittingly) learned they’re tougher than they thought. We covered how to read terrain/topography and navigate easier cross country routes, and how to glass for critters. Good stuff.

Love seeing those pics. of the kids out in the woods or water. I've mentioned this before but my close buddy is my grandson Joe, he's 19 now but with downs syndrome he will always have a lot of little guy in him. Doesn't stop him from hunting and fishing though, almost every time i'm out in my boat fishing, Joe is with me. When it comes to hunting he spends a lot of time with me chacing elk and deer. Life for grand paw doesn't get any better than that.

WI bow opener last year. We camped it. First time with a generator too. Pretty slick.

Daughter scoping out the moon. It was out early.

Took some Boy Scouts out yesterday for their first Hiking Merit Badge outing. It was interesting to watch and listen to them; you can tell which ones spend more or less time on electronics. The weather was "breezy", which means winds 20-30 mph gusting to 40, some had never walked 6 miles or scrambled on mud buttes before, and some got hot spots and blisters, but no one whined (gotta love peer pressure among boys), and they had a good time.

Fishing by the divide. It was all bog out to the water. If you stepped off the walkway you’d sink to your waist and probably not get out.

2015 is when the obsession took hold. First night of the season.

Competition from this past February. 1 first place and 2 second place. The girls she was competing against were 5-6 yrs older than her. The club sent us an email that accused us of sand bagging. LOL. Skate year round. No offseason. We travel for ice in the “offseason”. You get out what you put in.

If we lived close to Minneapolis I’d be in trouble LOL. No olympian here but she is good. Her goal is to be gold medal level in USFSA by sophomore year. She’s 11 now. If I could just get her to put on some weight...
