ZeroTech TRACE ADV 3-18×44 FFP Shoot2Hunt

Crazy how glass doesn't matter to lots of you, but once you look and use a scope with good glass, that is the main thing that impressed you.

SWFA's work, no doubt, but their optical quality is trash in my opinion. I'd much rather spend more $ to get better glass.

To my eyes, SWFA glass is crap, even the HD. I tried to like it, and just couldn't get past it.
I don't LOVE it by any means but for the price on a reliable scope the 6x and 3-9 are solid enough. I find the glass quality worse when trying to shoot tiny groups on paper versus steel, etc.

The key factor is cost and reliability. IE most ~$300 scopes aren't GREAT glass so that need to be kept in mind. Also scopes with great glass that aren't reliable are a non-starter. So in the past you had to decide if you wanted to spend SWFA dollars on the fixed series / 3-9 and accept the average quality glass that won't keep you from killing but isn't as pleasing or spend alot more money for the few scopes that were good glass and reliable.

This new S2H scope supposedly is a nice glass option that is reliable, it must be acknowledged it is still more expensive that SWFA fixed series / 3-9 but its not as expensive as some other options. The LRTS/LRHS type scopes hit this budget point in the past.

The cost of the ZT scope could sell for much more IMO. The price it’s selling for is wild.

Its a balancing act. If MOST scopes were reliably then glass would matter more, good glass is meaningless if not reliable (something some people seem to ignore). Yes there is the option to spend more money, that is where a user's situation and budget/preferences comes into mind. The scope of this thread is supposedly one more option with better glass quality, which is nice and there is excitement for it.

There would probably be less excitement if it was $2500. Nothing is in the absence of context.

FFS … I was sitting in a teleconference and figured I would see how many of these had sold. Somehow another one ended up in my shopping cart… damned things are better at killing my wallet than anything else. But that’s a problem for future me.

If it was $2500, it wouldn’t even be on my radar.

No doubt! I am glad that most have been impressed with the glass. Cost is a nice sweet spot for most people. Can't wait for the MOA version to drop. 😅
