ZeroTech TRACE ADV 3-18×44 FFP Shoot2Hunt

If the Sniper’s Hide thread is any indication, the apparently common prejudice against Zero Tech as a brand could limit the popularity of the S2H scope.

It will be interesting to see if the S2H scope can prove good enough to overcome that prejudice (or poor reputation or whatever you want to call it).

For the sake of the $999 I have committed to it, I am certainly optimistic that the S2H scope is going to be great. And I am looking forward to trying it out at the course this summer.

I’ve found a lot of good gear and better advice since I joined RokSlide. More than I ever learned from Campfire (where I was very active for a while) and more than I picked up on SH (where I read a lot, but am less active). This site has its weaknesses, but the overall emphasis on data driven functionality rather than emotional attachment to specific brands, is useful.

Ehhh, maybe. Considering the first 500 sold out in 90 minutes, and, Ryan hinted at something like a couple thousand emails on the signup list, demand does not seem to be an issue. Word will get out, and people will be convinced. This scope will also be awesome in the rimfire match world, with parallax down to 10 M.

I won’t be impressed with sales of 2,500 units. Conservatively, there were at least 1.1 million rifle scopes sold last year. If they can’t sell out monthly production for at least the first two years, it won’t even be a rounding error to the industry. And even that number is minuscule.

It doesn’t matter personally to me. I’m optimistic that the scope will be good. I don’t have a need for more than one 3-18x scope (frankly, I don’t have a “need” for even one 3-18x scope, but I want to support the project), but I would like to see this scope be wildly successful and make the rest of the industry take notice.

They didn’t make it to turn the industry on its head, they made it to have what they want. They’ll sell enough of them. And 2,500 units is just the people who are on it at the beginning, before a single consumer has had their unit in hand. That says something.
