ZeroTech TRACE ADV 3-18×44 FFP Shoot2Hunt

I read most of the thread and it really slammed my self esteem. I try my best to stay in shape, I have a career, I'm kind and funny, and I am willing to try new things. That thread really has me down and it's been on my mind.

I just don't understand why nobody here has ever slid into my DMs just to ask...
With how gay everyone is here, like wtf, guys, what's so wrong with me?

Also, there are some good objective comments being skeptical of the zero retention testing.

I like the one guy that said his son and his buddies or whatever already have 3 of the scopes and they sucked…. Despite there only being 3 prototypes out…. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story I guess!

I'd say that is due to the fact there is already a ZT Trace line existing and they are assuming that the Trace Advantage line is the same thing. Just like a Cavalier and a Camero are the same thing cause their both Chevy's.

Those comments are fine; who really cares if a person isn't open to working through a hypothesis that is this site's zero retention testing.

There were some good points made hidden in there. I think once someone takes their equipment or sees someone else run through the 7 shot protocol, have failure and success in the same session, then repeat it, it's shocking. Those folks that have healthy skeptism aren't going to get it out any other way than first hand experience, so I hope some actually try it or make a point to go see some testing done.

Looks like that dude is actually in Australia so he may have handled something pretty close to it. I stand half corrected but he’s still full of shit.

I do think them adding to a lineup they already had is confusing

In your analogy, the fact that it’s zero tech is analogous to it being a Chevy. The fact that it’s in the trace line means both of them are Cameros. This is like once camero having a different engine and suspension than another camero.

I don’t disagree… that’s why I had said earlier that some were some pretty cogent… obviously they shoot a whole bunch over there and there’s always a lot to learn from those dudes too. Just a very weird dislike of the ‘Slide… 😂

Not really worth it unless you like to stick your head in the toilet and flush it for fun.

Jay
It felt somewhat similar, Jay.
It is not as if there were no good points made regarding a more skeptical approach, but rather that the noise to signal ratio was weak. When you mentioned the toilet, I envisioned the grossness. Never thought of the noise. Your comment was deeper than my immediate understanding.

Ok, how about this...

They are Ford F150's only one is the base XL truck and the other is a Raptor.

Exactly, except for anybody can see the specs and see that the Camaro has a better engine and suspension. Can’t really tell that with scopes at all. From the outside looking in, it is the exact same scope as the others in the Trace Advanced line, just with a S2H label on it. If you don’t frequent Rokslide, you don’t know the difference.

They will sell a pile of these to Rokslide, but if they want to reach everyone on the reliability front, they need to change the branding. Don’t really care on my end. Crappy branding might help keep them from being unobtainium at least.

If the Sniper’s Hide thread is any indication, the apparently common prejudice against Zero Tech as a brand could limit the popularity of the S2H scope.

It will be interesting to see if the S2H scope can prove good enough to overcome that prejudice (or poor reputation or whatever you want to call it).

For the sake of the $999 I have committed to it, I am certainly optimistic that the S2H scope is going to be great. And I am looking forward to trying it out at the course this summer.

I’ve found a lot of good gear and better advice since I joined RokSlide. More than I ever learned from Campfire (where I was very active for a while) and more than I picked up on SH (where I read a lot, but am less active). This site has its weaknesses, but the overall emphasis on data driven functionality rather than emotional attachment to specific brands, is useful.

Ehhh, maybe. Considering the first 500 sold out in 90 minutes, and, Ryan hinted at something like a couple thousand emails on the signup list, demand does not seem to be an issue. Word will get out, and people will be convinced. This scope will also be awesome in the rimfire match world, with parallax down to 10 M.

I won’t be impressed with sales of 2,500 units. Conservatively, there were at least 1.1 million rifle scopes sold last year. If they can’t sell out monthly production for at least the first two years, it won’t even be a rounding error to the industry. And even that number is minuscule.

It doesn’t matter personally to me. I’m optimistic that the scope will be good. I don’t have a need for more than one 3-18x scope (frankly, I don’t have a “need” for even one 3-18x scope, but I want to support the project), but I would like to see this scope be wildly successful and make the rest of the industry take notice.

They didn’t make it to turn the industry on its head, they made it to have what they want. They’ll sell enough of them. And 2,500 units is just the people who are on it at the beginning, before a single consumer has had their unit in hand. That says something.

I haven’t read the whole thread so hopefully this hasn’t been mentioned…I am a little disappointed with the revealing of the reticles, especially the Rokslide one. A simple rearranging of the letters and it could have been the MHG reticle.
