Please note: I am still no longer sewing at this time, I don't have enough personal time to do so since it is all hands on work.

Inspired by chatter in the optics forum I put together a shim set for the SWFA 3-9x42 MILRAD(the orange shims below).

Per request a set has been put together for the SWFA 6x42 MILRAD (the green shims below). These fit the other Gen 1 fixed power also. They will physically fit and can be used on the 3-15x42 and MOA scopes providing a variety of shim heights for trial and error fitment but the reference height will not be accurate.

These were based off my personal scopes, even if there is some variance they should have you in the right ballpark and the labeled shims should allow a quick fine tuning from there to adjust up/down mils as needed in the shim stack.

$25 for the first set including shipping (in the US vis USPS), additional sets can be added to the same shipment for $15ea.
Please email [email protected] so I can try to keep communication / orders in one location preferably.

First come, first served add on offer (I will delete this portion of the listing once they are all claimed):
I have some superceeded prototypes of 3d printed tikka M+ mag bodies, these are bodies only and use a factory tikka 3 round M+ follower and spring, which can just be moved over and also moved back, if you want to revert to the factory mag body. These ones have a little more friction on the catridge than the current iteration where I made it internally .2mm wider, it was a minor optimization, these otherwise are functional and are the design ongoing in the diy forum. $5, first come first served to add into the shipment, lets limit it to 1 per person so it widens the field testing feedback pool. Post in this thread if you're claiming one (and which) so we know who was first.
Qty 1: bright orange 3rd M+ mag (photo is washed out below). Claimed
Qty 1 left: black flush fit M+ mags that will fit 2rds

Is this only for the HD models?

What about 6x and 3-15?
This is for the 3-9x42 specifically, the other scopes have a different size turret. Folks were wanting something for the 3-9x42 in the optics forum and I made these up and folks got excited about it and here we are.

I have a gen 1 6x that I could figure out a similar set of labeled shims if there is desire for it? I presume eventually the gen 2 will show up and have zero stop already. I don't have a 3-15 gen 1 to mess with / comment if the turrets are the same as the 6x or not.

FYI there is an option on ebay for the fixed SWFA gen 1, not sure the resolution of those ones.

Thanks.

I’ll place order. 2 3-9s and one 1-6 which I believe is exact same….

I have 3 6x’s and one 3-15 I’ve been wanting to zero stop too is reason I asked

Same on the 3-15. I have an unmounted one if you needed one to measure. We are just a little over an hour apart.

ALL CURRENT ORDERS ARE PACKED UP NOW AND I WILL DROP OFF AT THE POST OFFICE BEFORE LUNCH.

6X REQUEST:
I took some measurements on my 6x, it has 42.3mils of travel. Thinking about how to tackle that full span I was thinking either:

1mil resolution set = Base +1, Base +2, Base +3, Base +4, Base +5, 5mil, 10mil, 15mil, 20mil shims

A .5mil resolution set = would be the above plus Base +0.5, Base +1.5, Base +2.5, Base +3.5, Base +4.5 shims

The small adjustments would be in the Base shims and then the 5 (1rev), 10 (2rev), 15 (3rev), 20 (4rev) shims to dial in from the 0.5 or 1.0 setting.

Do folks see value in the 0.5mil resolution (need to select from 9 bases)? If not I can keep it more simple with the 1mil resolution (5 bases).

I need to print samples and validate my measurements and print settings still before these would be a go.

I don’t really see the value in .5 mil

Working on the 6x version, its mostly there but I'm getting conflicting results a tad in trying to dial in thicknesses between the low end and high end, but I'm honestly chasing nuance a bit because I feel like grabbing 39mils of shims and having that match 38mils (or vice versa) I should be able to close the gap on a bit more. But realistically once you have a reference point to know how far off your zero is from that current shim stack its pretty easy to adjust.
EDIT since I can't reply to this <24hrs.
Okay, I've got the 6x dialed in (for my scope) to a point I am content with and will start running off batches now.

Even if the base shim gap is a little different on other scopes the labeled shims will provide a reference point to work with to dial in a stack that meets your needs fairly easily, I think, even if the numbers match (for a scope that has this same thread pitch in the turret). But I wanted the numbers on my sample of 1 to be reasonably close as a baseline.

The shims have a soft resistance point you feel and as the little space between them compress out it gets hard, you feel the soft point .1-.2mil before hand so ideally I wanted the tight feeling stop to land just under the shim stack.

.5mil shim = .4mil on my scope when dialed down tight
8.5mil shim set = 8.3mil on my scope when dialed down tight
12mil shim set = 11.8mil on my scope when dialed down tight
16.5mil shim set = 16.4mil on my scope when dialed down tight
24mil shim set = 23.9mil on my scope when dialed down tight
25mil shim set = 24.9mil on my scope when dialed down tight
32mil shim set = 31.9mil on my scope when dialed down tight
41mil shim set = 40.7mil on my scope when dialed down tight

Good enough!
