Your top gear items for 2024 (limited to 3)

Really dig the looks of this harness. Will it fit a g19? You should do a Rokslide review.
Yes. It’s what I keep in there most of the time.

  1. Mongulai Yak wool socks - Far more comfortable than merino, noticeably warmer, and no more sweaty feet. Makes me want to throw away every other pair of socks I own. I gifted 5 pairs to family and the only negative comment was that 2 people felt they were a little slick in some shoes and when shoeless.
  2. Garmin Xero chrono - Night and day better than MagnetoSpeed. Worth the price especially if purchased on sale/with a coupon.
  3. LS Wild Triple S Pillow - Incredibly light, comfortable, and makes a great front or rear bag. Mini ultralight has also been great as a rear squeeze bag or front rest when less height is needed. An unexpected advantage is how warm and pliable they are in cold weather compared bags with heavier/harder fill.

Scythe suppressor -Not sure what took me so long, but this is a game changer.

Duckworth Powder Hoody -It looks like a towel, but it’s incredibly warm and comfortable.

SG Grumman pants - when you need them, you’d be willing to pay any amount of money for them.

1. Pocket Bible - very useful for reading during the slow parts of the day and saves phone battery life
2. Outdoor Research Echo Hoodie was very useful in the sunny warmer weather with a baseball hat. I don't like sunscreen and a hood with a baseball hat and breathable shirt is very effective after being sunburned multiple times
3. PEAX duo headlamp - very bright, extra long battery life and the electronic lock is very handy to avoid accidentally turning it on and draining the battery

Pocket Bible, yeah, have my old Gideons. It is getting harder to read without holding it up close.

2x RSS : tikka roughtech ranch (.223/.350), OCL Hydrogens, maven optics.
MKC Stubhorn and Flattail(this one is really growing on me vs the other 3 MKC I have)

My truck camping build out - Moonlander, starlink mini, solar panels, and batteries. Should let me spend much more time hunting/scouting etc since I can work from anywhere with a clear view of the sky now.

This season I built a simple camping trailer from a utility trailer and rooftop tent I had. That has been really good to use a base camp. It’s nice having all the gear loaded and ready all season, and not breaking down the tent to drive to hunt.

EXO K4 pack I got this year has been a big improvement as well.

Also really enjoying using the blackstone back at camp, used to eat lots of peak refuels. But if I’m base camping it, real meals go a long way.

I'll throw mine in:

1. Sitka Jetstream. We had some pretty high and bitterly cold winds this year. I was able to stay in it longer than any of my buddies who are always sending me their Sitka-hate memes. This is my third year using it and it is one of the most valuable pieces I own.

2. ScytheTi suppressor. Put it on my suppressor ready browning expert in 300 win mag. It tamed both recoil and noise. And had very little weight penalty, to boot.

3. Aziak Equipment Front Country Tripod and ball head combo. I have never been one to really like ball heads. But this one is a game changer with his ability to lock the ball into a tilt function for glassing purposes. Although it is made for truck hunting use, it went several miles into the back country with me and was loads lighter than my previous set up.

Honorable mention: Swaro 12x42 NL Pure. I decided to take the 12s because I was hunting some pretty open country. The field of view on these stabilized them in my mind like a 10, but all the benefits of a 12.

First Lite Tundra neck gaiter- prevented an amazing amount of heat from leaving and kept drafts from wicking core heat. Made almost as much of a difference as going up a whole level of core insulation.

Vortex Diamondback 8x32 binoculars - Have almost replaced their larger and pricier 10x42 vipers for treestand and turkey hunts.

Crispi Nevadas, uninsulated - Technically got these in 2023, but they're still one of the biggest from what came beforehand. I was hunting in either Danner hikers or lacrosse alphaburleys, neither were ideal for the amount of walking in the environments that I hunt in. I don't think I'll go another season without a pair of purpose built recraftable leather boots.

Diligent Defense S-TI suppressor - first suppressor, absolutely love it

Rokstok - was able to get 2 and build a 6.5 prc and 223

Truck build-out - 2017 Tundra with small lift, 35’s, topper, and decked. Fingers crossed, but I think I’ll have this truck for a long long time.

I love my 2017 tundra. How much lift did you need for 35s? I have a icon 3in full suspension lift, only able to fit 33s. Can you fit chains on the front?

I am able to fit chains, I’m running Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT’s in 35x12.5x17.

I have an icon kit as well. I had to use like +10 offset wheels and do a cab mount chop for clearance.

I can take some photos of the clearances if it helps.

Yes please. From the pic there looks to be more lift in the rear than the front?? Or do you have more wheel offset in the the rear?

It's always awesome when a new guy comes in and derails a good thread to pad their post count.

If a mod wants to delete this post to help get this thread back on track, I fully support it.

My bad. Sorry. Don't care about my post count. You have a fantastic day, may the lord open on you...

This year on my goat hunt I used a bsr 3000 stove that worked great, a bit slower than my BIL’s pocket rocket but not by enough to matter. Boiled water in minutes and packs down stupid small. Also lighter than the pocket rocket.

Also ran a new mystery ranch Metcalf 75 that outperformed my other packs by a long shot. Had an old alps frame pack and a pop up 38 that were way less comfortable with the weight than my Metcalf. Not to mention this bag fits more gear and has more adjustments to tailor the fit to me. Got it on sale for a deal I couldn’t pass up and glad I bought it!

Lastly, my BIL had a soft water bottle with filter that was amazing. Faster that boiling and ready to drink immediately. Still boiled the still water but any moving water was great. Filled our bladder and water bottles in 5 mins from a stream running down the mountain on our goat hunt.

Runner up would be the sleeping pad I bought off Amazon, gear doctor brand reg size it was like 80$ CAD and was much better and waaay lighter than my old pad. A big upgrade for sure!!
