Your first deer rifle?

I was 11 years old when I bought (Parents did the transaction) my first rifle 700 Remington 30-06. it was on sale for $189 new in the box... Still own it and get it out every year just because it was my first.

My grandpa's Model 99 300 savage. Still have it, but will be a "safe princess" for the rest of her days unless i feel nostalgic.

Get grandpa’s gun out and kill something with it (or at least carry it in the woods) every so often. Skip all the modern gear, go out on jeans and a flannel or whatever. It’s good for the soul. Reminds me, I’m about due to kill something with the model 94 I killed my first deer with (a ‘48 my dad bought new). Spring bear? Maybe a moose this fall?

I’d at least try it on the beautiful days.
It is on the list to do since it has been a few years. I retired her 6 yrs ago when I bought a new rifle. Last 2 years, the weather has been terrible when I am able to get into the woods. Maybe this year if weather allows.

Maybe this fall I will get it out for a deer hunt if the weather is nice. I bought my first rifle (Model 99 will always be his even though he has passed) 6 years ago and had only been using those since then.

My first one was an old Yugo M48 Mauser in 8mm I bought for $250 since that was all I could afford. Back when I had no idea what I was doing and just sitting on the ground in some hardwoods hoping a deer would walk by lol. I never did get a deer with it, and maybe I should bring it back out.

I was admittedly spoiled with my first rifle. Dad found some guy going through a divorce via the newspaper classifieds and I was gift a Browning BAR Safari 30-06. Gorgeous rifle that I will forever cherish and pass down.

First deer was with Dad's Ithica Featherlite 20 gauge. Smooth barrel, bead sight.

But first real "rifle" was an H&R 444 Marlin with a stainless barrel and thumbhole stock.

We don't get to use any of the fun guns in Ohio
