Your first deer rifle?

Remington Model 600 Centennial chambered in 6mm Remington and made in 1964. 75th anniversary of Statehood and 100th or the Montana Territorial Centennial. I believe 1030 were made. Got it when I turned 12 in 1972. It killed a lot of deer and antelope over the years and my son took his first antelope with it also. Still wears the K4 Weaver scope we put on it day 1. My dad purchased it for $99.00 (new) in a small store in Nye Montana about 1968.
Here is me on the left with the rifle with an antelope buck I shot. No hat one. You can see the medallion in the stock.

Is that the Sweetgrass hills behind you in the first picture ? I live about 1 hour north of them in Alberta and have pictures of Antelope on "the other side".

22-250. Many say it’s too small for whitetail but a never lost one. Sometime you did not get a great exit would it that usually meant the bullet bounced around inside. Deer will away from any caliber if the shot placement is bad.

First deer rifle I purchased was a Remington 700BDL 30-06. Bought it at Kmart during the summer of 1983. It was a leftover 1982 they had. Priced at $279.00. At 18 years old, I had to buy it on layaway. Hunted with it every year for about 17 years before moving to a 7600 30-06. Still have the 700. Last time I hunted with it was about 5 years ago. Plan to give it to my grandson if he wants to take up hunting. He’s 3, so still have a ways to go.
