Your first deer rifle?

Got to pick whatever I wanted for my 12th birthday, and at the time, that was a Remington 700 Mountain in 270 Win with a walnut stock. Put a small gouge in the fore end one of the first times I hunted with it, and I'm sure my dad wanted to skin me. Killed a pile of deer with it and moved on to other things, but I grabbed it out of the safe for nostalgia's sake a couple years ago and killed a great buck.

Can't wait to give my sons the same opportunity when they're old enough, although it's a little sad that Remington probably won't be on the menu at that point.

When I started hunting with my Dad as a kid it was a single shot 16 gauge with slugs.

Next he let me start carrying a Ruger 44 carbine with a 2.5x scope. Both this and the previous 16 ga were his that he let me use.

For Christmas my parents got me a 700 ADL in 30-06. This was the first that was "mine".
