Your favorite hunting knife?

I have few Toor, HFB, MCK and Iron Will. But I keep coming back to my MCK Whitetail. I liked it so much I bought four of my cousin's one for deer camp this past season.

The one I keep using is one like the yellow Osage Orange wood one in this picture. It just fits my hand well with all the blade I need to break down whitetail. I was not able to get it in use this past hunting season but I still had it with me.

I haven’t used it yet, but I got a sheath made for my argali sawtooth stealth. Probably defeats the purpose of having a really lightweight knife, but I like leather better than kydex and wanted to try cross draw when carrying a firearm on the other side.IMG_9972.jpegIMG_9973.jpeg

I can sharpen a knife decently.....BUT never as sharp as I want...for this reason I have used Havalon for years. Been very happy with the setup and the weight is hard to beat.

I have an Argali it’s very light but it’s not as sturdy as my trusty KOA jaeger which is my go to one stop shop for handling a deer on my own.

Used cheaper Buck knives (BuckLite, OmniHunter) for years and they worked well. Got a deal on a Benchmade Steep Country a few years back and love it. Holds an edge, light, nice to handle. I also usually carry an Outdoor Edge with replaceable blades if weight isn’t an issue.

For years and years my hunting group has used only replaceable blade knives. But in recent years we have moved back towards using a real knife. My brother uses a Goat knife, which he has used on several bears, mule deer, whitetails, and elk, and my dad uses a buck 110, and a bench made bugout. I have been using a Chris Reeves Iyoni recently, that I won in an Exo Mtn gear giveaway. I really really like it. It’s American made, sturdy blade that sharpens easy, and holds an edge through cutting up a whole mule deer.

In my opinion, the best knife is one that you like, (wether that be because of nostalgia, style, or how it feels in hand), a knife that keeps its edge, and a sturdy knife that you can rely on, and know it’s not going to break on you.

I just carry my one fixed blade other than my leathermen. I like to carry a small sharpener so I can tune up my blade if necessary.

Old Benchmade steep country that has been back to Benchmade like 5 times for work. That and an outdoor edge razor blade knife.

It’s cut up at least 15 animals.
