I don't know what pussy cat we are comparing to, but my 300 WSM with suppressor kicks less than my lightweight 270.

But, this is Rokslide, so we only need a 223/5.56.

300wsm you can load it hot and heavy or load it light and down on power if you want. I have all the options but do like the 300wsm.

I’m fairly partial to the boring ol’ 308.

But I would still vote 300WM or the 300WSM.

The horse is surely dead regarding the discussion of all three but my two points would involve that all three cartridges have centuries of cumulative load data and variety, and have monumental presence in factory loads.

I don’t wish for much in terms of gear anymore, but if Federal “peaked” the 308 I’d be giddy.

150 gr NBT 300wsm (no brake, no suppressor) has less felt recoil than a factory 270 Tikka.
If ya skeered, say ya skeered. Don't run down a well designed stock and pad.

Well, ill tell ya this, they're are plenty of rigs out there worse than the 300wsm tikka. You must have forgotten about the old pre 64 win in 3006 and above. Or a ruger m77 in 358win & 35 wheylan.

Given the op's previous purchases, the sensible do all's are out, and a mild 300 mag makes sense.

That was my one and done too!...Then I picked up Kimbers in 243 and 7mm Rem Mag, and have a custom savage in 22 creed in the works...I'm bad at the "and done" part...
