I've only had the opportunity for 1 Elk here in Nevada. Used a Thompson Center Encore Pro Hunter BP in .50 cal. shooting Barnes 290 grain TMZ projectiles to 230 yards with factory open sights. I'm hooked now and looking at 7mm PRC for out of state hunts (or a bow).

Savage 116 in 30-06 with 150 gr TTSX. Rifle seems to like the 150’s best and worked well knocking elk down, I appreciate the flatter shot too when calculating drop. Used to work in the city where Savage is manufactured, it’s not fancy but it means a lot to me.
