You thought the RokStock was ugly.

Started w a basic outline, bedded action, and most of the grip. Proceeded to ruin a really nice piece of walnut. First attempt ever at a stock.

Yes I know it’ll likely break. Going to add a carbon fiber rod or two in hopes I can delay it.

I should have been more patient and kept the Tikka Master Sporter stock closer while working.

Fun though.

Looks awesome Love it! Why carbon rod, not brass or steel all thread? Weight reduction only?

You got that grip impressively thin. I'm not sure how I'd go about reinforcing it. It seems you'd want a rod through the bottom of grip to action area and also laterally through into the buttstock

Congrats for giving it a whirl. I hope it works out, the craftsmanship looks good

I was thinking 2, one from front side of grip back into stock. The other would be visible, but go through bottom of grip and into toe, kind of putting back what I cut out.

The craftsmanship was done before I got ahold of it. Next time I’ll be less aggressive and use the proper tools, table saw isn’t it…

I just bought a couple of those rods, little shy of 6mm, they're about 8 inches long and feel like steel, they're friggin stout!

Its definitely hideous for sure....but it looks like a fun project! where did you source your walnut blank from?

I bought a large slab of Walnut years ago (while living in Asheville) for a project and we ended up moving, finally found a good use for it.
