Folks, when you plunk down your hard cash on that new puppy, do yourself and that dog and everyone around you favor and get a quality e-collar as well. You need it. The dog needs it. Other people will tell you don't, you can get by without, train with a check cord or something else, they didn't have e-collars way back when. But please consider that forgoing one is pure risk. All it takes is one morning, you let the dog out and he gets a wild hair and takes off despite your proximity and your voice and he gets on the highway and now your dog is dead and you and your family are distraught.

Wow, so sorry for you and your family. I have seen this happen once and it's such a terrible thing to witness.

Sorry man...really. But I agree 100%. Greatest invisible leash and training tool ever made. I used to be a Pansy as a young man and thought the opposite.

But there is almost no need to melt a dog. Even Vibe and Tone are great tools and what I use 80% of the time.

Preaching to the choir I am sure. But for any Newbs on the fence. Follow the above

I bought one for my middle aged Weim a few years ago. He would get too far out when walking him off leash, in a safe area. I used the tone and treats and within 2 days he was coming straight back to me when I hit the tone button. Money well spent.

We call it a Gordon Setter hearing aide.....it's amazing how much better he can hear when he is wearing it :)

When I met my wife....the supreme dog lover and multiple time Rescue adopter...she thought it was completely cruel. Then when she saw how absolutely excited my dogs got when the collars came out and the buckles would jingle...the could NOT WAIT to get the collars on. Meant we were gonna do cool shit!

Both were Angels with collars on....didn't even need to be activated. Their "hearing" was impressive.
