Yeti vs Ozark Trail tumbler challenge

With all the talk about the newer companies I had an opportunity to test the almighty Yeti and Wally Worlds tumblers. I have not gotten to carried away with the test so there may be some flaws but I should have decent findings. I bought my wife a 20 oz Yeti and about two weeks later I saw the OT tumbler at Walmart. Yetis are about $30 and the OT $8 so there is quite a difference in cost. Last night at 5 pm I put 10 ice cubes in each and placed the lids on. The tumblers are side by side in my kitchen and I will not open the lids until the ice is gone. As of right now (11:45 6/7) the two are neck and neck. Both have some melt but still have good ice. Not bad for almost 19 hours. I really wanted the Yeti to blow the OT away after I bought one but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. I will post an update a little later with any more info.

Just picked up a 30 oz black powder coated wal mart one. $11. So far so good.

As of right now I don't see any reason to buy a Yeti, Grizzly, Atlas or any other. Cost to preformance is not even close and the extra money for the name is too much. It's been about 22 hours and both still have the same amount of ice.

I've bought both sizes and with all my use I can honestly say it's 100% as good as my Yeti tumbler. I'm pissed I spent that much on the Yeti as this holds hot and cold for easily as long if not longer then the yeti. I bought a ton to give to friends too. Yeti is sueing OT and all the product you see on the shelves is all that is being made...for now. So buy one while you can.

Wish I could have found a 30oz powder coated one but no luck here in CO

Humm, maybe why the OT roto molded coolers are not a a available right now. I'm thinking that Atlas deal right now is well worth it at this point. Still ice in both....

Picked up a couple of these this yesterday. It was tough finding them. I went online and then found stores that had them or allowed same day pickup from a web order. They were both under $10 here.

Love my OT version. My only complaint is the o-ring doesn't always allow the lid to seat properly. I have to take the lid off and re install it- such a hastle! Side by side, I can't tell the difference, other than the cosmetic embossed mountain scene which I don't mind. Kept my ice all day long... keeps liquid noticably cool (but I wouldn't say cold) for 24 hours, keeps my coffee hot until it's gone.

I am about to go to bed but both will have ice 30+ hours. I'm sure by the time I wake up they will be melted. Sorry Yeti, you just are not worth the price tag on these. I will be buying a few more OT tumblers shortly.

i just bought on one ebay for 15 bucks/free shipping. Still not a bad deal i guess. Some fools have them listed for 30 bucks! I guess someone will be dumb enough to buy them at that price.

I'm traveling for work down in Arizona, so I stopped by to check. These were at the cavecreek, az (north Phoenix metro) store. Whole endcap of both sizes.

fell in love with the yetis more for cold than hot because they take so long for a cup of joe to cool enough to drink. am sure if they are holding ice as long they remain room temp and free from condensation on the outside? will have to look at local wally world for them, if the aisles are not blocked with protestors.......

Great thread. I don't have a yeti cooler or tumbler. It just seems silly to me to spend that kind of cash for something that doesn't work any better than a much less expensive product.

I just bought two OT 20oz today. I immediately put a Yeti sticker on one just to aggravate my buddies who bought Yeti glasses.

I am a Yeti guy when it comes to coolers. They work and I've had them for years, and before there were many cooler options. But this whole $40 tumbler thing, I think is kinda silly to hold a beverage that'll be gone in 30 minutes. But for $8, I'll do that.

I just bought two OT tumblers of each size from Walmart after seeing all the good reviews here. Never realized I needed one of these but now I'm excited to try them out. Bought four for less than the cost of one Yeti. I'd put a Yeti sticker on one also but I don't own a Yeti cooler and the sticker probably costs more than the OT mug. Ha!
